| Thanks RSS, for sure my thoughts were not a knock on RSS or any person, I cant even swing straigh myself. I'm thinking about taking lessons from you. If you still have that clinic going on in 2010, i'm up for bunker and pitching lessons.
Just curious about the thought processes that came into play when SSS make their decision. Whether the country wants to get all its future athletes into one style, though it is a good style. You made it clear that it was because proven results and that students always have the option.
I trully dont know the answers to NCAA/Australian style of golf teaching..maybe others in GR can pitch in. After all this is a forum for golf dicussions right? |

I have a few questions and was hoping you will be able to enlighten me. Hope this is the right place to ask...
My husband and I will be going for my PC test next week and would like to find out how we can proceed from there to a handicap etc.
Some questions: 1) Is there a validity for a PC (does that vary from place to place?) Our PC is valid for 12 months, then can renew
2) Most courses in Singapore require a handicap before we can play there but we would need to collect enough scorecards before we can get our handicap? Which rated courses can we play in Singapore with a PC (in order to collect scorecards) towards our Handicap? Depends where u get the PC from. Our PC will get you on OCC only. Most are just for the club you obtained it from
3) If we would like to arrange for a handicap test with you later? What is the procedure and cost involved? Do we have to collect enough scorecards by the time we take the test or can we start collecting them after we pass the test with you and how long do we have to do that? 9 hole handicap test, checking for rules and etiquette knowledge, score not that important but around 55 for 9 holes for men and 60 for ladies, give or take a few Can collect scorecards prior to or after test is taken. Cost is $60 for test fee, My Golf Club membership is $160 per year, 9 hole green fees at $65
4) Do we have to join My Golf Club before we take the test with you? Yes, must join MGC
5) Another other advice would be very much appreciated. Any other questions feel free to contact me
So sorry for the long questions but we just have a lot of doubt on our mind that we would like to clear..
Thanks in advance!!! |

| Thanks for answering my questions Paul!
Our PC will be taken at EGC but that does not have a course/ slope rating yah? Do you know which rated course we can play, with a PC from there? At OCC, any problems?
If not then great!, will go sign up for MGC membership and get some practice done at OCC.
Btw how do we contact you for handicap test? Oh and is there a time frame that we have to submit the scorecards within, after taking the test?
Oops lots of questions again...thanks for being so patient! |

Mark has left as his wife had a baby and they moved back to Brisbane. Unfortunately he will not be coming back. Good thing about the GE academy is all our instructors teach the same swing and what you will learn from Mark is the same as what myself, Chris, David or Ben will teach you. All instructors undergo the GEGAS training. If you need any help just give the academy a call._________________ Member of Australian PGA Raffles Country Club Driving Range ptudor@pgamember.org.auH/P: +65 81005960 "Those who dare to teach, must never cease to learn" |

Hi raquel I think you misread the post. I was saying the 10 steps are what most instructors teach and I am saying that this is too complicated. We like to simplify the swing so you dont forget or need to remember all these steps. Basically set up, radius, turn and weight shift is all you need to know! Forget the timing, rythym! Just hit it_________________ Member of Australian PGA Raffles Country Club Driving Range ptudor@pgamember.org.auH/P: +65 81005960 "Those who dare to teach, must never cease to learn" |

Set up with 60% weight back, 40% front 2. Take a wide one piece take away 3. Make a big shoulder turn 4. Transfer your weight to your left 5. Clear your hips 6. Extend your arms 7. Keep your head down 8. Keep your arm straight 9. Release 10. Balanced follow through
That is your typical golf lesson as taught for the last few centuries of golf, 10 steps to do in less than 2 seconds. We think this is too difficult so we try to simplify the swing. The result for the majority is better impact, less dispersion on shots and more consistency. Isn't that what all golfers want?
I just think with golf being such a traditional game that many are unwilling to accept that there may be a better or easier way than what our predecessors were teaching. It amazes me that golfers will be so un-traditional and use these state of the art, oversized drivers with $1000 shafts, the latest new hybrids, wedges, moveable weights in drivers, better balls etc but they will continue to use an ancient swing method from hundreds of years ago.

This is the ancient way. We live in 2010 now so lets move with the times, just as the club and ball technology has!_________________ Member of Australian PGA Raffles Country Club Driving Range ptudor@pgamember.org.auH/P: +65 81005960 "Those who dare to teach, must never cease to learn" |

You don't need a PC to play EGC so I think it would be a waste of money. EGC PC is not recognised at OCC. If you want to play OCC do the Certification the club offers for $10 which last for 1 month then go straight for handicap in my opinion
If not then great!, will go sign up for MGC membership and get some practice done at OCC.

| No worries, traffic here has been hectic so keeping up with every thread has been difficult for us.
I must say that the RSS is one of the many ways that I'm keen to explore when I'm back. I have seen and recognise Gary Edwin himself coaching a young and promising korean or so at the Glades driving range next to the M1 who was killing some irons back in 2004 but I din know that he had a swing philosophy.
Being here in US has made me more open-minded about swing techniques. I have talked to a one-plane swing coach here and I also met a guy on the range who was striping the ball and got to talking to him about his swing. Found out he was a Stack and Tilt advocate. He was a mini tour player here n he demonstrated what he had been working on with Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett and its totally not what was being illustrated on Golf Digest. He was flushing these little 5 yard draws with his 5 iron and his swing looks very solid, powerful.
Fact of the matter is that I learnt that we should not diss what we do not know. There is a ton of information out there and its for everyone's benefit to pick it up and make something out of it.
I'm sure its always difficult for the masses to accept something radical and new compared to tradition but as long the results are there, its hard to disprove its effectiveness.
Gd luck to ya. |

| Hi Paul, I'm thinking of learning golf at GE Academy, but found the information on the website a bit sparse. May I know the breakdown of the course, e.g. what would we be learning at each lesson, and does the price of the lessons include the golf workshop, PC test etc.
Thanks in advance. |
