What's the penalty?

Scenario 1:

Ball flew and landed/plucked on top of a tall mature tree.

(a) Player climbed onto tree and shook the branches and ball dropped onto ground. Any penalty?

(b) Player climbed onto tree, picked up the ball and dropped onto ground. What's the penalty? (+1 stroke?)

(c) Player dropped a ball below tree and take 2 penalty strokes for lost ball or player go back to last played position and take 1 penalty stroke.

Scenario 2:

Ball flew and pluck onto the trunk of palm tree.

(a) Player found ball, remove from trunk and dropped on the ground. Penalty stroke +1?

Scenario 1 happened to me yesterday during my game at Legends. Was a damn mature and huge tree. Trying to play a draw ball to land on green at 140m but the ball drew a little earlier and hit the tree top. Caddy confirmed ball plucked on the tree top. All of us kept laughing at the ridiculous shot that REALLY happened. Unbelievable! Nearly wanted to do a monkey show.... shit... and I lost that hole...

Scenario 2 happened to me in T.Puteri last year. Didn't know that palm trees are hungry for golf balls! Swing

My understanding is:

a. If you can confirm your ball in on the tree, you can declare un-playable. Take 2 club length not nearer to the hole and drop another ball. 1 stroke penalty.

b. If you cannot confirm, then it is considered a lost ball. You have to go back to the previous place where you last played, eg. Tee-box. Also 1 stroke Penalty.

The different is that for (b), you lost distance and stroke.

I don't think there is a 2 stroke penalty, unless you did not follow the rules of golf, example kick the ball.

it happened to phil mickelson yesterday at the ongoing "farmers insurance open".
watched it on golf channel and one guy climbed up the tree........
