If swing ok maybe 120m-130m. If top or fat shot, 90 to 100m at best (with roll).

my head keep lifting up when down swing.. some time can keep still, some time cannot.

It is hard to explain to you in words here. I would suggest you watch some videos or better still, hire a qualified swing coach.

Especially for irons (even for hybrid & FW to a certain extent), if one doesn't swing down and thru, he would not get the maximum distance. Besides that, you also need to learn how to lag coming down at the ball.

If you merely just swing easy & sweep the ball without doing the above, I doubt you can achieve 150m or more for 7i. Smile
Dear bro turbo.. I read ur swing description wih interest.. I also want to hit 150m with 7i. Do u think u can do us all a fav by posting a video of how u execute this swing (including ur ealier description of hip, shoulder turn etc)? Surprised

Somehow I vaguely recall a hearsay that it is achieveable to hit 150m with a 9i by not delofting a 9i but adding loft to it. Did I recall correctly or my memory is failing me?

So shall we deloft or add loft to get that kind of distance? i am totally confused.

erm.... I am referring to changing the loft of the irons to make it stronger or weaker loft. Weaker loft will launch the ball higher and stronger loft is the opposite.

IMHO, I dun think it is advisable bcos when u need to do a soft landing for approach shot, you need the extra loft. If you need extra distance, you should do a dynamic de-lofting of the club instead.

Bro, what I meant was, do not de-loft (strengthen) the club physically. Some ppl like to bend their club stronger to get extra distance. As I mentioned, if you need extra distance, u can de-loft the club on impact (dynamically).

Adding loft is increasing the angle of the clubhead and hence, one would get a higher ball trajectory.

Well, Sigmaone's 160-200m I've seen before, it's nothing really.. 160m many ppl can do that, i'm currently not too far off myself. But doing 150m with your described swing, I've never seen before, will be an eye opener for me at the very least!

Anyone paying you to do that will be a joke.. perhaps you are thinking too highly of yourself? We have videos on youtube by Pros.. FREE.. u wanna charge for that? lol!

So u are saying 160m or more with 7i is really nothing? Good for u then ... Rolling Eyes

Coming back to your earlier comment, whether I wanna show u my swing is entirely my prerogative. Moreover, I dun see the reason why I should prove it to you if I can do 150m with 7i. If you ain't gonna pay & wanna act cheapo, I urge you to stick to the FOC Youtube then per what u said above or better still seek help from your Idol's Mr Sigma ... Good luck!

I have friends using driver to tee off par 3 150m, and he told me I'm going to do a high fade soft landing, and he did. Is funny to use a driver to play short par 3, but I consider a good shot as long he get close to the pin and birdie or par. Is more of the man's pride and ego that their iron can go straight and far. Put it this way, long or short doesn't matter, more important is performance, heehee..... Seldom people will ask how long you hit your driver or iron today, usually they will ask what do you play today. Cool it guys.

yap... golf should be fun and enjoyable....esp when you play at MBGC on a weekday, where you can just point to all the folks working at CBD or MBS and laugh...

Maybe we all can catch a game together soon....cos after golfing with me, anyone would feel good about their game Smile

Maybe the originator of this thread garylin who started it in Feb 2011 shd rename it to how did you play your irons today as per Suzuki's recommendation rather than how far do you hit with your 7-iron?

Interestingly noticed another thread started today by bro Andrew borrowing the title just changing the 7iron to a 5iron and nobody bothered to redirect him to this 30 page thread as the discussions are in the same vein....

yap... golf should be fun and enjoyable....esp when you play at MBGC on a weekday, where you can just point to all the folks working at CBD or MBS and laugh...

Maybe we all can catch a game together soon....cos after golfing with me, anyone would feel good about their game Smile
