So it's a Kaymer vs. Donald final. My bets are on Kaymer but not by much. Donald is playing really well.

I recall hearing the commentators mentioned that if Kaymer goes into the final, he would have overtaken Lee Westwood as world No 1. Is this confirmed?

Updates....

Martin Kaymer takes over No. 1 in the world

MARANA (Arizona) - MARTIN Kaymer is the new No. 1 in golf, this time without much debate.

Kaymer calmly rolled in an 8-foot par putt on the 18th hole on Saturday for a 1-up victory over Bubba Watson to advance to the final of the Match Play Championship. That was all he needed to move to No. 1 in the next world ranking.

The 26-year-old German becomes the second-youngest player to be No. 1 since the ranking began in 1986. Tiger Woods was 21 when he reached No. 1 in June 1997. It ends the 17-week reign of Lee Westwood, who had only three wins on his world ranking ledger when he became No. 1.

Kaymer has won seven times in the last two years, including his first major in the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits when he beat Watson in a three-hole playoff. And another big win might not be too far away.

With his 1-up victory, Kaymer advanced to the championship match Sunday against Luke Donald of England, who set an Accenture Match Play Championship record by needing only 73 holes in five matches to get to the last match. Kaymer, though, already has reason to celebrate.

'It's obviously very special for me to be the second German,' he said of the world ranking. Bernhard Langer was the first player to be No. 1 when the ranking debuted at the 1986 Masters. He stayed there for only three weeks. -- AP

The conditions will be interesting on Sun for them.

The weather system makes the normally thin air (about 1-2 club diff) play slightly closer to sea level conditions so they might have to adjust their yardages.

Also not sure if the rain/snow will linger. Will make the ground conditions very different from the last 4 days.

Either way, LD or MK winning is good for Euro golf. Bubba was exciting but I think MK just held on better and holed that clutch putt on the last.

ok,,,,,,was watching the game between Luke and Kuchar.......all the while I tot the white headed driver which Luke was using was a TM.....and I think so.

BUT, I noticed that his caddy slotted it into a Mizuno head cover

Question: Is this a joint technology between Mizuno and TM where the former provide the outer protection and temperature optimization for driver....???

I think he is still one of the best overal player on tour. His bunker shots are also very good. I think No.1 sand saves on European tour.

Speaking of which. U can see that Kymar is still sticking to the supertri. Guess he takes longer to believe in switching.

Kaymer was on top form all through the games but he seemed to have faltered at the end. I wonder if it was because the pressure of turning no. 1 (after he beat Bubba) was a psychological obstacle for him, i.e. that he now had to prove something.
