| Just wondering, I can drive the ball 200-210 meters which is quite short.
Taking out all other variables and just thinking about distance.
Is it possible to play to a single handicap? |

| Absolutely, assuming your drive is consistently in the short stuff ans the rest of your game is solid. |

I agree, but having said that, oonly the 400+ metre par fours that I can't reach in two, almost resigned to taking a bogey right, unless lucky? so on most courses with four 400+ par 4's thats as good as +4 already. |

| beerbut,
even touring pros don't get greens in regulations all 18 holes. The avg for a regular joe on tour is north of 50%. Getting up and down is how pros score low. They birdie on GIR and still Par if not GIR.
No need to debate, got real life example:
let me intro you to my buddy Golfool2009. He drives 200-210 and can play in the high 70s on good days, low 80s on avg days. I think he should be an 8 or 9 handicap.

| Think no further than your average LPGA touring pros.
The 130th ranked lady on the LPGA has an average of 234.7 yards or 215m. And she is probably a scratch golfer. Therefore a single HCP for 200m? No problem la.
124 Becky Morgan 235.9 125 Brandie Burton 235.7 126 Ilmi Chung 235.6 127 Allison Hanna 234.9 T128 Meredith Duncan 234.7 T128 Misun Cho 234.7
ON the same subject, top five longest ladies:
1 Michelle Wie 274.5 T2 Brittany Lincicome 266.6 T2 Vicky Hurst 266.6 4 Karin Sjodin 265.5 5 Karen Stupples 264.8
And Brittany is quiet a hot chick... |

| thanks guys!
appreciate the responses, not that i play anywhere near that level! but i need to know what to aim for. Not that I am likely to hit any longer whilst i get older.
and as for 3 on 1 putt, I wish I could get that close.

| Handicap has nothing to do with how long you drive, in my opinion, as long as you have your short game sharp to back it up. Sure long drive helps, but it don't matter if you drive it 400 yards but can't make a 3-foot putt. I got a friend (my oldman's friend, actually) who barely hits it 200 yards. But he is mostly likely will hit the fairways. Lays up on his second shot on most par 4s. But he knocks it close to the pin on his approach for an easy putt for pars. Occasionally, he'd get lucky on par 5s and steal that crucial birdies. At the end, he shots high-70 constantly. Bottom line, as long as you hit it straight and have a sharp short game, you should be okay. Now, of course at some point you get (or at least thinking of getting) fit for your driver to hit it longer. But how many of us ever thought about getting our wedgea and, perhaps most importantly, our putter fitted? |

| A typical low single handicap has about 28-30putts per round, that's easily 6-8 1 putts _________________ Callaway Razr Fit Xtreme 10.5* Ahina 60 R PRGR EGG Spoon 15* MRC Fubuki Alpha 70S Adams Super Hybrid XTD 19* MRC Fubuki AH R Adams A12 Pro 23* GD Tour AD UT85 R Callaway X Hot Pro 5-PW PX95 5.5 Titleist SM4 50*, 54*, 58* DG Spinner Scotty Studio Select 2012 Golo 33"

| well, on the otherside, i drive abt 250m and i'm no single handicapper...
so i think your consistency, short game and putting is key to playing single... |

If you put more time practicing on short game and approaches to the greens, you'll be scary in a year! |

Yarra, what makes you think he's not planning to do that? When I heard his plan earlier......my god! it's like domination of the GR golfing world and some says Batam too. |

| Personally, I think it s v difficult to play to single handicapper if one drive is 210-220m. I m a living example.
If Your drive is only 210-220m, u will probably need a fairway wood to reach long par 4 in 2s n everyone knows how difficult to get GIR with fairway woods.
There r rare n few cases like Jimmy choo who drive 210-220m but is single handicapper. His irons r very accurate. Short game is v sharp. His swing is not fast n not hard but smooth n fluid n a joy to watch n learn.
Beside swing techniques, one Need good course mgt, gd composure, Patience n good judgment to play gd golf. |

Bro, I couldn't agree more. His is a swing to emulate. Plus his mental and approach to the game is so tip-top. Beri happy that he did not give up Poresia. At least I still got chance to learn from him. |

| 8 pars, 8 bogeys and 3 birdies is still 5 over or 77.
sometimes golfers forget that they can still score if they are accurate on par 5s and par 3s.
how many long par 4s are there on a golf course...8????
do your sums to play 81 is not so tough if you have the right mental attitude. i know our shoomaker had 8 pars in a row and play 1 or 2 over in a tough golf course.

| DGman, that mental attitude is the toughest part of the game... I can get 8 pars in a row, but most of the time I will blow the next hole or two really badly due to over confidence... LOL! |

| 210m carry or total? also 210m at range or course (verified by GPS?)
i also drive 200m-210m total, play the black tee last week, majority par 4 need hybrid to reach the green. One par 3 180m also use hybrid!!!!. surprisingly score better than from the white tee the day before.
unless your hybrid is like YE Yang US PGA 09 hole 18, can float to the green and stop on its tracks instead of rolling over.....

| It's amazing how you approach the game differently when you know you got a challenge ahead of you. Again, it's a mental game... |
