Beside swing techniques, one Need good course mgt, gd composure, Patience n good judgment to play gd golf.

Bro, I couldn't agree more. His is a swing to emulate. Plus his mental and approach to the game is so tip-top.

Beri happy that he did not give up Poresia. At least I still got chance to learn from him.

with your comment, many will flood to join poresia or play in poresia with JC!

you can be his manager to arrange his schedule to play with any bros who are keen to learn from him!

If you want to be a below 5. Not quite possible unless you are only restricted to play in short courses.

LOL! The way you put it is so funny. Gives me an impression that the guy is either always gets lost along the way, gets detour or very unfortunate to have any sort of bad tings happen to 'prevent' him to get to his destionation... One sad guy. Very Happy

I think it is harder if you can drive 250m but dispersion like crap and ball always land in hazards...

I think its still possible to play low single with a 210m drive, as long as its accurate and you can work the ball consistenly. You don't have to GIR to par a hole, just need to be deadly accurate from 100metres in to be close enough to the pin to 1 putt.

Sigh... all still looking for distances.... i will not say the ah pek story again but in short, he kicked two scratch golfer's butt. You dun need birdies or eagles to be low single hcpper, what you need is less bogeys and zero double bogeys or higher.

Its all the marketing and man's ego.

I would be happy just to be clsoe to LPGAs average.

Dun forget that we dun play the black tees, so distance may not be that crucial. If you can constantly get a birdie on pars 5s which are around the 450m mark with a 210m drive, then i think getting a par on long par 4s which are around 400m is not that difficult.

Speaking from experience, it's a bloody struggle to play to single if you're driving short....the rules are no duffing any shots, no three putts, no blading chips across the green, no hitting in any hazards, definitely no OB.....

But it's not impossible, it's just that you're at a huge disadvantage against big hitters which is more indicative of the problem that you face which is distance throughout your entire set....so if you're hitting 210m (total) v. a whale (no names mentioned...haha) slamming it 250m-280m...the problem is that even from the short and curlies he has an advantage...ie from 150m he's prob using a 9 iron while we poor souls are using a 6 iron....add that to the fact that he's 40m ahead of us with a sand wedge against our 6 iron.....fugetabout it!!!!

To play to single, all par 3s and par 5s are there for the taking....except for that long ass 600m par 5 in OCC......as for the par 4s, on average there are only about 2-3 holes that are just too long for me...so it's possible but bloody difficult....until you're an ah pek!!!

To answer your question honestly, the answer is YES ! with a 210 metre drive ! As most golf courses are constructed with and average length of 5600 metre(std blue tees), Of course, one have to be reasonably proficient in all department of golfing abilities. In fact with a drive of even 180 m, I see no issue of one being a Single hcp (9 and below but maybe not 6 and below).

If you are worried of long holes being there, fret not, as there are going to have short holes too! Yes, some courses are of Par 71 and some are 72 or 73, but averaging out, to make 9 pars and 9 bogeys "NO PROBLEM" !

As i said the only condition is, one have to be reasonably proficient in all dept. of the game.

I also think it will be a bit struggle, to compromise , you will need to have good mental attitude, this definitely not easy , probobly you've to be physical fit and your breathing might be the key which I believe your brain worked well with good flow of oxygen. The rest I believe most had mentioned that are the course management and short game.

This is macam asking if don get straight A can become millionaire

Sure can....but tougher lor...coz Stratight A can get chance to become press-see-then scholar..after that become PermSec as example....

But if don get straight A, then road is a bit more difficult lah...tats all...still can. like Capt said, all other areas need to be above above average.

Lets not forget the element of LUCK ....I know ppl that start company becos of the internet craze and become millionaire now but company kena close down.

Recently I had a game where by I was drving an average of 230m. Cutting alot of corners (Alot of Dog leg left / right) leaving 2nd shots all below 100yds. Potential birdie becomes triple bogey / double par. that day my short game completly desserted me. so distance does play a part but then its also about the whole package.

I used to play on this course regularly and there is this super long par4. 400+ yds. I decided to try something different and use only my 7i. Got on in 3, 1 putt for par. Go figure.

Just to add to the above, I have a 61 year old golfing kaki who drives only 180m on average. But he's so proficient at his fairway wood for long par 4s and 5s that he has no problem reaching the greens in regulation most of the time.

Not to mention his short game and putting is lagi more deadly, i.e. 1 chip and 1 putt> 50% of the time. If he gets lucky, it will be a birdie hole. No more than a bogey for rest of holes.

Bottom-line... not scared you Long, only scared you Accurate. And yes he plays in low to mid 80s

Beware the Ah-peks....Wink

last year,

i played in the audi cup at sentosa tanjong course..

my flight mates all ah peks... all 10-11 handicappers..

really eye opener..

easy swing wi 6 iron can land next to the pin many times from 150m... putting is damn accurate..

cos we played alternate ball / best ball format.. i remembered he made a good chip and landed the ball 3 feet from the pin. he commented to me.. "young man, so i keep my putter"
i smiled and missed the putt!!! kaoz.

my other 2 flight mates.. off the rough with a wood.. smacked... landed on the green..

and nabei.. 1 putt for birdie.. and it happened more den 3 times...

really an eye opening...

young man like me struggling with irons and putting.. look like a clown...
