PGA average distant.

driver-245m
3wood-222m
5wood-210m
hybrid-205m
3iron-193m
4iron-185m
5iron-177m
6iron-167m
7iron-157m
8iron-146m
9iron-135m
pw-124m

handicap 5-3

driver- 230yds
7iron-150yds
pw-120yds

handicap 28

driver-150yds
7iron-120yds
pw-75yds

these are just rough distant of how far each individual with different handicap should be hitting, though some time it maybe different.

here is my view.

Its more important at this stage to be very consistent and predictable in hitting whatever distance ...than trying to match distance.

If 7 iron for you is 120yds....and if you are consistent and predictable....you are far better off than someone who can hit 180yds very unpredictably.

for most of us...the LPGA average will be a better gauge for distance.

They are confirm longer than most of us. Tee shot should be around 230-240m and 7 iron from 140m-155m.

DGman, just curious.....why is the smash factor getting lower for the shorter irons?

Interesting to note that the average LPGA driver swing speed is 94 mph, but I don't see any LPGA players using regular shaft.

I wonder why.

Hrmmm,
Interestingly. I can cover teh driver., 3 and 5 wood distances easily...
But irons are way shorter. PW @ 110, 8 @ 130 meters.

DGman... Any idea why??? Or anyone? I didnt realise that my irons were that far off till this list came out... hrmmm
Driver is 245 to 260m

I can drive 245meters if at the end of 150m there's a conveyor belt of some sort

Otherwise I'd be glad just to clear the red tees Sad

if i'm not wrong, the smash factor would be decreased for shorter clubs due to the loft of the clubs... i'm sure if you make a 9 iron long club with a 4 iron loft, your smash factor would be increased...

@bkll, if i'm not mistaken, 94mph should be a stiff shaft already and not regular
