Can I ask the moderators to take TS behind the golf shed and give him a good spanking?... on second thoughts, he may enjoy that.....

@Rex: the clubs come with KBS regular shafts....i haven't had the LLL checked but that's because i bought them on impulse....was forced to watch World Invasion: Battle LA with 6 clubs between my legs for 2 hours....was disturbed by how much i enjoyed it...

I will scan DGMan's barcode and make an appointment.....preferably before i get schooled by Duffy on the 18th....

Amazing change from one extreme to another. Were you using clubs similar to MP58 before the G15? Curious, does your distance drop with MP58?

I was using 2005 callaway x-tours DG R300 which were forged cavity backs and bought the G15 last October....i've only used the MP58 once so far but i haven't really noticed any difference in distance....then again, the G15s were supposed to have slightly stronger lofts than my x-tours but i also didn't discern any noticeable distance gains with them...

of course, it could also be that i'm not hitting them pure and therefore, no difference in distance...

anyway, the reason for the switch wasn't for distance but for feel as well as for the clubs' incredibly sexy looks (take another look at the picture above and tell me i'm wrong)...if you can't play well, make sure you look good....

the money would have been better spent on lessons but lessons wouldn't have given me that same warm, fuzzy feeling..........scorecards fade, but forged irons last forever......

Some friends told me that forged clubs tend to be shorter (cause they are softer)
I don't have such experience myself, being switching irons around.
The likely cause should be the stronger loft of the game improvement irons as the forged irons tend to have more traditional loft.

So does softer --> shorter distance?

I don't know the science behind it but i don't think softer necessarily means shorter.....like i said, i didnt see much difference between my forged x-tours, my cast g15s and now, the mp58s.....

the other difference i noted is something i never understood or appreciated before which is, or at least i think is, swingweight....the one thing i didn't like with the g15 was that the head seemed heavy....i felt like i was swinging a hammer.....very imbalanced compared to teh shaft...perhaps changing the shaft would have helped....

Francis...if you take out both heads and weight them, they are going to be the same weight. its the MOI giving you the impression that it is heavier.

layman's term to make it easier to understand.....MOI is the amount of resistance create when you take away and swing through the club. because of the top line and bulk of the Ping irons, you think it its heavier.

you can bring in your irons to have them swing and total weighted. with the Pings my experience is the piece of sponge in the shaft that adds total weight to the shaft. i believe both irons should be around the same swing weight but if you are using NS Pro 950, i will not be surprise that the MP58 will be a tad heavier in total weight.

there are lots of folks out there who cannot use a driver that's more than 420cc or only MB irons. they just cannot deal with High MOI clubs, period!

Hope this helps to confuse you further.

Hi Eric, just wondering why is there a piece of sponge in the shaft of Ping irons? Cushin insert?

Cheers, PG

Hi Eric,

Instinctively what you say makes sense...i could tell that my mizunos are heavier, it just seemed more balanced compared to the pings which didn't make sense......given your explanation, it seems obvious that the bigger head of the g15 increased resistance, ie non-fictional friction (told you i'd use your phrase).....

Thanks for enlightening me on this...i just couldn't understand why these smaller heads seemed so much easier to hit as opposed to what were supposed to be GI clubs.....
