Hello guys,

Just wondering if anyone here has had the occasion to try both and able to give some feedback on these two putters?

Thanks.

Putters are very personal. Don't trust reviews. Try it for yourself.

I think you will be hard pressed to get a response to this thread other then this response... for a number of reasons:
1. Edel??? I have no idea what that is... and i suspect most feel the same.
2. Zen??? Which??? there are so many variations.

Buying a putter is more important then who you date... Why not you tryboth and see how you feel about them???

a young boy who plays to a 3 handicap came in today his mom and dad and wanted to buy a ZEN putter. i put him through a standard putting analysis and he was putting very well with his Ping putter.

I told that boy that unless he can distinctively tell the difference in both putters, he will be wasting his time and money on a new putter.

after about 30 minutes, he ended up signing moi as his mentor and will be working at BFG BM during his holidays. i think he signed out a Black ZOM with the hole and if you see a young boy with a Ping and a ZEN at OCC, thats our new coffee boy.

i can only say one thing..input equals to output. there is no 2 ways about that. nothing will turn a bad putting stroke into a good one. only a good stroke into better results.

Actually I was referring to the process as well as I understand that Edel and Zen go through thorough fitting processes.

Link for Edel: http://edelgolf.com/

I think Wizgolf sells them in Singapore.

Understand that it is very personal so I was looking for more technical feedback, about the process and the product in general.

But if you guys think there is no useful feedback to be given, then so be it.

i know asahi putts light out with a zen, and I saw wilkang getting quite lot of one putts from 10-12 feet with his "Nil" Edel Laughing I also know Edel gives a louder sound on impact.

would be interesting to hear someone's experience, nonetheless.

Thanks DG.

Am not looking for a miracle. Was just thinking since I've already looked at fitting other clubs already, I've always not thought about fitting a putter and am thinking of going through a proper putter fitting. I remember reading somewhere that the pros are good enough to play with any club and its the hackers like me that can get the most help from using properly fitted equipment and then work on it from there. Or maybe just itchy backside Very Happy Or both

Bro, why not you give both a try and let us know how you feel about both putter ?

Basically, I understand both putter's fitting process are very different and it will be tough to make comparison in this way.
One putter may fit one but might not fit the other...thus personally I think it will be to your benefit to give both putter a chance to try them out..

Just my thought only[left]

Here I am drinking after work and get dragged into this.
Benny Benny.....

Ok, here's the lowdown from a beri personal perspective.
Tried wilkang's Edel..... Solid feel and feedback, almost as good as the Zen ZIM I am currently gaming. Prefer the ZIM coz of the weight and alignment (read:shades)

Put it this way. The ZIM cuts down my putting stats from 40s to 30-34.
This is the putter for me. FYI, I had 5 putters before this and nothing comes close to ZIM.

Fitting wise, I am not able to comment coz did not go thru Edel fitting.
But trust DGman to do a good job and spot on analysis.
He's the man!

NB......so many beer yet still can type.

p.s wmf, it would be a saddam wilkang game if it's ZEN vs Edel coz he's the only bro I know gaming the putter and may I add, putting beri well with it.

Now, back to my beer.... Beer

well, i've got an edel, 3 odysseys, 1 ping, 9 scotties and well, i'm awaiting my 10th zen...

tried all the rest prior to zen and anyone who has played with me recently barring yesterdays game can attest to the fact that i'm putting a great deal better...

personally, i find that the edel doesn't match up to scotty much less a zen... the feel to me is similar to a scotty and i dont get the "true" roll from it, as compared to the RDE from the Zen putters...

once again, i believe that putting is very personal and it is simply what works for each individual, i've got a friend in US who plays to a +1.8 handicap and he swears by his frigging arnold palmer putter from dino era...

just for the record, i was given the edel putter and as such, have not been to wizgolf for the fitting... and well, i trust DGman with every single club i have, so obviously, my recommendation for a fitter would hands down be BFG

As far as the differences in the fitting processes I think that they are both very good.

I had the chance to speak with DGman about the Zen fitting process he uses and it is very thorough. His theory on fitting a putter is sound and I would have no problem recommending him or his fitting method. He focuses on proper length, putter head shape, offset, lie angle, etc. All of these are key elements in finding a putter that fits you and your stroke.

The fitting process for Edel putters is also one of the best out there. They look at loft of the putter, lie angle, degree of offset, shaft length, clubhead shape and line configuration. Very similar to DGman and the Zen putters.

As you can see length, lie, putter head shape, offset, neck style, and loft all affect alignment and performance of a putter.

Bottom line is proper fitting of a putter should emphasize one thing. Consistent aiming of the putter. This will be the first step in creating a repeatable stroke. In order to be a good putter you must be able to aim the putter where you intend, a majority of the time. If you cannot do this you will be playing a guessing game on the golf course.

A little sidestory for you. The first time I was fit for a putter was very late in my career as a professional. I was on staff with Taylor Made and was fortunate enough to have access to the tour department and was fitted for a putter there. I was shocked at the results. For most of my career I had played a plumbers neck because I thought it was what I should play. Needless to say this was wrong. Based on my setup, dominant eye, stroke, and aiming it was determined that I needed mallet with little offset and the lie angle was about 5 degrees flat. First round out with the new putter I had 27 putts (one of my best putting rounds ever). Since that fitting my putting has been night and day better than during my career.

Bottom line is if I could do it again, I would have gotten fitted for a putter much sooner in my career as it might have made a huge impact on it.

To everyone who took the time to give feedback thank you and I appreciate it very much.sure to not having unlimited resources I wanted to see what some of the very experienced golfers here had to share. This was the reason for posting, to find out more and not to be controversial in case my post was construed that way.

hi bro

no worry. There are golfers here who go for ZEN, there are some go for Edel....and i believe both are good putters, leaving the technology aside, they both come with very good fitting process, personally i think that is very important.

Thus, the rest is up to the individual golfer to go explore and experience themself which one suit them most....

Great one Dan....if you have adjusted your putter earlier, we may not have the pleasure of having you in Singapore.

we have been experimenting with a flatter lie putter for some time now. what use to be a flat lie was sitting around 68 degrees and we have now use 65 degree to a great degree of success.

i have also asked Nick Middleton and Christian (inventor of Sam Putt Lab) to evaluate scientifically what it does. Physically, i have found that a flat lie promotes a more neutral left hand position and this basically cuts out a lot of pull and push. More importantly it helps the golfer gets into a better aiming position quicker and hence eliminate indecisiveness at set up.

it takes a bit of getting used to but the results so far have been more than encouraging.

for those who wants to try out a flatter putter, you can come and try out the flat putters or bring in your existing putter for an adjustment.

I do not own any of the 2 putters... but I managed to tried both... couldn't really appreciate the difference. Guess it wouldn't matter much if the putters are not customized to my putting stroke + my putting was never good enough to begin with!... Laughing

But in my opinion... a putter is like a fitting underwear.. one that works for your friend will not necessarily works for you. You got to like the type of head, neck, color etc etc to be able to feel confident using it. So I believe the fitting process is more important than the putter itself.

Find someone you trust and go with an open mind... cos you never know what you might end up with!

Having said so... I have not got my putter fitted yet... so now it felt like I am wearing somebody's boxers everytime I play golf... I can feel something is wrong because all these while... I've only like wearing G-Strings.....

I have used a number of putters before, be it mallet, blade, semi blade or whatever. I think all have their own distinctive feel and effect.

I remember not long ago after a huge disappointment, I wanted to have some fun and start using different putter for every single game. When I use back my usual gaming putter, I lost my feel and stroke. affraid

I think in order to putt well, it’s not only the equipment itself but how much time you spend with it on practice ground. Nevertheless, I think the look and the confident feel during the setup is a very important factor as well be it a Zen or Edel. Smile

Just return Edel putter not long ago. Miss it and number of putts increased thereafter.
I can putt with my eyes closed for putts less than 4ft.
Now can't even putt in a 2ft putt.

Ya, I also miss the mid-slant Zen that boss owned. Keep on imagine and dreaming of how much strokes I can cut down with it in my hand. The setup is just perfect! drunken

I've had the pleasure of being fitted for an Edel putter with Wizgolf
and using it for the past few games. I'm still trying to get the hang of
it since switching from Nike Method.
Am slowly improving on my putting as i game more with Edel putter.

The fitting process is an interesting one despite the time required. From set-up, natural aim,
head, weight, shaft and grip. Switching from part to part, adding
weights till i achieve the desired dispersion.

Now that is done, i was invited for a putting session with SAM & Brett.

"The first foot is the most important for putting"

This amongst many other teachings from Brett stuck in my head after the SAM session.
From the stats generated about my putting stroke, i am able to understand how i am rolling the putt and my stroke.

And you would think i am done...not yet. Laughing Laughing
Next one coming up will be aimpoint and i am looking forward to it.

Like what i have been told that putting is a game by itself, i am now starting to understand better, learn and hopefully master the art of putting.
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

oh... Anyway. my choice is that putter I like regardless of brand. As for the fitting methodology. I use only one club fitter. BFG... I find it so much easier to blame only one person...

In terms of which putter I got that was suited to me... well:
2 * Hiro
6 * Scotty
2 * Yes
2 * Hor le See
1 * Ping
1 * Zen

I only game one of them now...

not because I think I putt with that one the best... its cos of the 14 club rule...

But at each point in time. Each putter was a great purchase idea. And honestly. dont regret it... Things change. People change. Body build up changes...

In terms of fitting methodology, I am not to sure that there are that many ways to skin a Cat. I am sure the Edel is a great putter, just as the Zen is.... But, Which is more pleasing to your eye?
