Hi bro,

I had a similar situation sometime back at range...
Mind got distracted and tempo totally out...
Didn't realise wats e problem and got frustrated...!

Finally tired, took a short break and started to focus on having good contact on e ball...
Followed by ensuring that i swing all e way thru before looking at e ball...

And all of the sudden, problem solved..!!!

Hope it helps...

Btw bro shamusan,

Every individual have their own preferred swing...
Some maybe unorthodox but still works like a charm..!
Unless you had seen his swing and thinks it requires a major change, i hope you will not make loose comments on fellow forumer saying they/he didn't have much to begin with..!

Btw i am jus a high handicapper and as most of the bros here always say... Long term solution is to look for a pro for sound advice..!

Cheers

Robert

I dont think Sham is making "Loose" comments... any variation of that sort is surely a swing problem... and since you are a self proclaim high hcp, I Suggest you DO NOT MAKE LOOSE comment yourself !!!

No worries bro and68low,

If i did made any loose or irresponsible comments i am most willing to apologise in person...

Jus hope this forum is a friendly place for ppl of all HCP...

Nothing personal or anything along that line...

Cheers

if you want to talk abt a high handicapper, please look no further than me... i've been golfing for all of 1 year and 2 months now... and i'm not a long hitter or anything like that... i'm just stating for his benefit that should your driver variation be that great, then, one's swing is clearly not sound to begin with, am i wrong?

is a 50m difference between good shots normal?

this is not a question abt one's swing, it is abt the consistency that is achieved by the same swing... wouldn't you find it odd if your PW carried 100m today and 75m tmrw? assuming that your swing is sound and consistent

the assumption here is that in the past, the bro with an issue right now, had a variation of 25% on good swings... isn't that rather odd?

Sure this is a forum for all Hcp, and for Friendly ppl, but if you start making accusation with no validity, ... I guess you have to take it on the chin like a man. Having a preamble, like "bro" and "nothing personal" will not get you out of the pit.

If you feel you must apologies for hitting out without reasonability, i suggest you just do it and dont "IF"

Thanks

and for your info robert, as a fellow high handicapper, my comment is not "loose" or anything along those lines.

if you consider my comments to be loose, i ask you to consider this...

i'm at a par 4, 380m hole.

on good swing 1, i driver it 200m, this leaves me with 180m right? this is most likely a 3 wood distance and i've got some minute hope of getting on the green in 2... YAY!!! oh happy days!!! par is within reach and dare i dream, i could 1 putt it for a birdie

however,

on good swing 2, i driver it 150m, and oh, this is a good shot too, but now i'm left with what? errrm... 230m

so now i'm happy to settle to be on the green in 3 and hopefully 2 putt for a bogey...

and so, you are telling me that should my good drives differ by 50m, it is acceptable???

perhaps you really ought to think your replies well and proper prior to shooting your mouth off!

i believe the operational word here is "GOOD"

as a high handicapper that hits average distances, i obviously have hit the 20m drives and the 180m drivers but that is a comparison between by worst and best drives...

not exactly an apples to apples comparison is it?

Hi bro shamusan,

I acknowledge that it is rather odd with the variations on good swing like you mentioned...

My golfing mate had such variations and solved his problems by having his driver shorten by half inch..

My concern is the remark on "not much a swing to begin with" as unless you've seen our fellow forumer in action, it is not right to comment on his swing...

My apologies if i had offended you or any other forum users..

Cheers..

Can someone help, my driver use to be able to hit 150 - 200m. but now i totally lost it. i can't even drive it out to the 100m. if i swing real light and easy i can only go up to max 100 but when i do my normal swing my ball just cut either to the left or right and i do not achieve even simple distance like 100. i have been told that driver swing 40% weight on left and 60% weight on right place the ball nearer to your left foot!! what went wrong, all my other swing for iron, wedge and hybrid are ok.....

scientifically, a decent PTR (1.3 to 1.4 smash factor) for a 200 meter drive requires 80 to 85 MPH club head speed. 150 meter is what most of the 12 year old will reach with a 65 to 70 mph (again with a decent PTR).

now if the thread starter is hitting 100 meter, no matter how hard he/she tries, there are 3 possibilities:

1. swing speed drop to 40 to 45 mph.
2. negative smash factor - decelerate at point of contact
3. equipment failure.

however, as all other clubs seems to be ok, the most logical reasoning is equipment failure. i don't think a coach can fix that, so those who suggest buying a new driver is not entirely out of line.

palm is flesh, back of palm is flesh. i hope good sense will prevail and all other issues regarding Robert's comment will be forgiven and forgotten.

Good Nite.

i made it amply clear that i had no malicious intent or was i out to insult him... but if i told any golfer out there that my good shots varied by 50m, i would gladly welcome anyone out there to not only tell me but YELL IN MY FACE that i do NOT have ANY swing at all...

see, see? I told you to buy a new driver ROFL

ok ok

(a), rest your driver. Clear your head. Eat well. Watch Davis Love III swings on you tube. Test driver again in 2 weeks. If still crappy then

(b), get a 1 hr lesson from a pro $90-100 only. Worth a lifetime anyways. You should know after the lesson if

(c), your swing is the culprit or your driver is simply a defective product or has a hairline fracture or a fake. If the latter three, then read my first sentence liao bwahahahaha

Words have no tone. An email can be interpreted differently by different ppl.
Anyway....by saying someone does not have a swing to start with (although u qualify saying u dun mean any offence).....you probably sounded a little too harsh considering u most likely do not know who the thread starter is.

On a seperate note, I thought Shamusan is a low handicapper who drives 270m and won some Tendy Golf Challenge event? How come he say he is a high handicapper here? Err...diff person or i rem wrongly?
