PostSubject: For all new comers : Buying from sellers of this forum   Mon Mar 28, 2011 10:33 am

To all newbies here,

i wan to share some of my experiences of buying and selling of golf stuffs in this forum.

Just in case you are all new and sometimes, you may not be aware of some "unwritten" protocol within this forum.

Again, i wanna emphasise that this is my personal opinion, and i will hope that it is more or less agreed upon by felllow brothers and sisters here.

As a buyer,
when i wanna buy equipment from this forum, i will definitely check out prices of the equipment selling at the golf outlets in Singapore or even from ebay. I will not assume that this forum is a "Lelong" place where i can get cheaper deals or extremely low deals compared to these places. Sellers like me in this forum would like to sell at a reasonable price and hope to be able to sell to a appreciative fellow forumer. If i think that this is a place where i can get a "real good cheap cut throat deal", this is really up to the seller if he is urgently need to let go of his stuff. To immediately assume that i will get a much lower price will risk me offending the seller and may get flamed. I flamed some potential buyers when im a seller, but via PM and not out in the forum. so, please, do not even bother making low low offers to the sellers.

As a seller,
i will also check the current price at various golf outlets here and then set a competitive price to ensure i am able to attract sellers.
of cos, i will need to take real good pictures and also be clear and concise of the specs of the item. A real good example is TPCML, wooo, those pics are awesome and is a prime example for us.
Naturally, when buyers contact me, they will try to bargain and if i feel that the buyer is gonna cut throat me, i will ignore. having said that, i made a lot of good friends when selling golf stuffs here.

In conclusion,

i hold no apologies to people whom i flamed and who offer me ridiculous prices and i will not bargain too too much as a buyer. I think if most of us follow this "unwritten" protocol, sellers in this forum will have a happier time and buyers will get what they want. if wanna negotiate, do it nicely and skillfully.

thank you..

PS : my coca cola bag is not for sale... hee

Some people, who sells genuine, legitimate tour issue items, always get the same remark: it is no difference than the ones on retail shelf, why ask for more money?

What's your view on this, Andrew?

in my opinion,

they do not realize the quality of tour issued equipment...

they are of higher quality built and also collectors items..

of cos they command a higher price..

then tell me,

buying a Honda and buying a Mercedes, both are cars..

why pay more for a Mercedes ??

If you put buying a Honda vs. Mercedes, it is like comparing a Lynx vs. TM. Let's put it this way: A Lexus shares the exact same underpinnings with their Toyota counterparts. Why people are happy to pay more for a Lexus? They never questioned why???

Prob they do not realise that the Lexus, in terms of safety, built quality, market value and comfort, is more superior than a Harrier.

At the end of the day,

you throw peanuts, you get monkeys..

if some buyers do not appreciate the quality if tour issued items, or they feel they cant afford or not willing to pay, they should have moved on and not make sacarstic remarks to you like that. i will have flamed them.

some one offered me ridiculous prices for a iron set and a 910 wood, claiming that some retail outlets here selling low..

then my reply will be "go get a new one den"

Just to cite an example,

i wanted to get the 910 ferrel from JonL, as he still has 2 more to sell

i politely asked him if its stil available, and he said yes.

i asked him then wats e selling price, and he quoted me a price tht is slightly lower then his listed price. To me, thats good enuff.

i den asked him if i can get lower price if i buy all 2, and he quoted me another price. which i find, its not low price, but its reasonable.

at the end of the day, i hope JonL enjoyed dealing wi me and dun find me a nuisance.

i will always take extra care to make sure the seller feels reasonably satisfied with the buyer negotiating.

Its all about feelings and i wouldnt wanna be at the end of a cut throat bargaining process...

Back to topic, great thanks to Andrew for this post.
Really set expectation right for selling/buying golf stuff here.

Just to set the tone right, GR marketplace is not the mainstay of this forum.
It is but an additional function we set up for GR members.

sometimes the question of Authenticity also comes into the picture la.
for me i try to get from people i know or those who are more active in the forum rather than thoes who just come in to buy/sell.

I think this place could be a great place to share infos, educating and trading equipments if everyone acts the part. Sometimes I found ignorance ruins an otherwise healthy and educating discussion or advertisement.

Can't agree more, kian. Dealing with people you know (or has a good reputation around the forum) is the best, and wisest, way to go on the Internet.

Definitely agree...

the market place is just a tool..

the main objectives are still sharing of common interests, exchanging information and fellowship..

i have been here for almost a year and i think it is extremely informative.

just a message to all newbies on the good things here and treat all forumers with love and respect.

at the end of the day, we wanna see more newbies here because some one says this forum is great and there are a lot of valuable info and sharing, and not people saying this forum is very dysfunctional and people are are rude and hard to deal with..

Afterall, no amount of $$$ can buy reputation
