haha i was so curious and intrigued i tried holding my mx200s up by the grip with my fingertips and using a metal ruler to strike it.

it didn't sound anything like it if you were wondering. it's gotta be the head alone..

Yup, cos the shaft and the grip will absorb the vibration.... just like trying to hit a bell have cloth stuffed inside...
