Onset is a face forward design. Primarilly touted as being shankproof in that the hosel of the golf club is behind the face. Since shanks are ball contacts with the hosel it is eliminated. They also tout that they are easier to align, fairly easy to play out of rough due to reduced hosel twisting....THey claim it is a better overall wedge. Somewhat weird to look at however.

Offset is designe to give the golfer a little bit more time to square up the clubface and help eliminate the dreded slice. Obviosuly a slice is less pronounced with a wedge than say a driver or long iron. Wedges today vary in the amount of offset. Some have quite a bit (game improvement wedges) and same have virtually none (players wedges). It really depends on what you prefer and how much offset is comfortable and performs for you. This design is also supposed to help lower the ball flight (although other technologies in Game improvement irons compensate for this and produce higher flights).

Rule of thumb. If you tend to miss your shots to the right. More offset might help...key word is might. If you tend to pull your shots to the left then you might want to find a wedge with less offset as the offset is supposed to help square the face. This is a general statement of course.

I suggest you go to a pro or clubfitter if you are looking for a wedge and try out some different designs to see which one fits you the best.

Hope that helped out a little
