PostSubject: Physiotherapist in Singapore   Tue Jun 21, 2011 4:20 pm

Recently I've been having acute pain at my hips. Mostly happens after sports. I was advise to visit a physiotherapist.

So anyone has good recommendation for good physiotherapist?

I think it would be more important to find out what is causing the pain first, than select which is the most suitable treatment.

Corn,

Sounds like you need a chiropractor more. There's 1 along Thomson Road just before the Catholic church & Novena Square......

in certain aspect, i think winston is right... , find the cause of the pain before trying out physio.

I am one of those that went for the physio without first consulting a Orthopedic. What comes next is very disheartening. My advice to you, if the pain lasted a week (even very faint) do a check with a Ortho not a physio. The physiotherapist may aggravate your injuries.

Once the cause of the pain / injury is sorted out... the ortho will recommend a physio and a diagnostic program will be recommended to you by the physio. It's not as simple as you may think. An acute back pain maybe a sign of "slip disc" or "bulging disc"

IMHO... don't take back pain lightly. I spend almost a year in and out of TTSH physiotherapist centre (DBC program) and now i am on a Golf Fit program which helped me tremendously. REMEMBER, you can't reverse / repair a damage or worn "disc", so please take care and don't just listen to a physio. this is my own experience, some may find a physio may actually solve the problem, but if the pain keep coming back, you should seriously think about consulting a ortho instead. Sigh... all these procedures don't come cheap, but i love golf too much to just gave it up.

If we can get our clubs fitted, I think we should get ourself fitted for golf too!

But take heart... fred couple is one of those that have bad back and still playing on tour. I always believe, Golf is meant to be played when you are fit not the other way round!

take care...

I simply love golf too much to ruin my entire golf life. I will be going for proper consultation and seek proper treatment. Thank you all for advise. Really appreciate that.

I have been referred to one in SGH by my GP for my neck. Seeing him early July. I let you know how it turns up and pass you his contacts?

Paiseh... I was confused between hip pain and back pain when i started the thread.

I'm pretty sure it's not hip pain now (after googling the symptoms). However, I will be going for a proper check up first before jumping into the treatment phase.

2 Orthopedics that i have used in the past...

1. Dr Patrick Goh
Bio Here

2. Dr Tho Kam San
Bio Here

These are my following injuries
1. Compression of my lower vertebraes resulting in degenerating of my lower discs
2. Torn Meniscus
3. 2x Corrective Surgeries on my Right Knee due to ACL tear

I used to go to the Physio @ Mt Alvernia. They have a guy by the name of Fairuuz Saleh.
He is a pretty good Physio in my opinion

These days i just go to the gym with the help of a personal instructor to work on my core muscles to help strength the back and work on corrective exercises for the knee

may I know wat's Golf Fit Program? I'm having problems with my shoulders for and elbows and wrists to my palms. Acupuncture helps to relieve the pain but the more i play, the pain seems to intensify. I wanna play golf for long time and hope that this can help?
