PostSubject: Changi Gof Course.....done-ed   Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:40 pm

The east has always been told to be charming with their seaside view cozing sky rocket land prices. So told myself, what better way than to experience the east karma than playing at the eastern-est golf course.....Changi today

Few key observations:
Today...the flights behind mine...all damm good le...cozing unnecessary stress

Have you seen a mask-golfer? well, today I had seen one...what a rare sight....fm Kimchi-land as he was wearing some SAR kind of mask..but KNS....driver is killer....one par 4 ( 250m i think) ....the mask-golfer...ONE ON....nearly killed me

I typically store my previous used balls outside my bag (ogio had the ball clip-on type of holder)...never ever do that again,,,NB, used up ball also kena taken at golf bag area

I didnt come with high expectation but I left with good expectation of the changi course...cow grass and very decent good Green.....FAST !!!

Many holes are ' blind holes'....cant really see the green. so quite dangerous....lucikly i am quite a short hitter....but must say, the newly WIMB 909D2 driver is really performing to high satisfaction today after getting used to the setup.

Par 3 is long but quite straightforward...the par 4s are more difficult in the sense that its more hilly and akward lies.

The green is typical of the old courses macam Royal Johor...in other words...small.....or rather smaller than other places

SGD 58 for 18 holes..... = very good training ground

All in all...should be in good shape for my thur game...

I played there on semi wet day... it's doable, the only issue is sometimes hard to find the ball as it's somewhat easily embedded in the soft soil.

The course is 2 x 9 and each fairway has two greens (and two holes) one for each pass.

Ah, I remember one of the hole... can't remember the number but it has a dogleg left fairway, guarded by lake on the left... long, very narrow green in the end. One side of green is long narrow bunker, on the other side is 6 meter drop onto a deep rough affraid
Played on my second month of golfing i think... and my bunker shot overhit and dropped the ball down the abyss.... Razz

(not that I can hit great bunker shots now, but at least I know to declare unplayable and take a chipshot from behind the bunker instead Razz)

bro ... technically, as Eiji has pointed out to me before, u have to drop inside the bunker if u declare unplayable ...

actually CGC is not meant for beginners....

fairways are not that wide...

hazards everywhere...

greens trickly as hell....

u need good course management to play it....

@DWK, i dun think u can declare unplayable if the ball is sitting nicely in the bunker, if i was your opponent, i wont allow it..... but u can play smart, why cant u hit backwards from the bunker to the fairway, instead of going for the green n facing the possibility of chipping back from a 6m drop

CGC is the best course to remove our ego on the golf course. It really humbles you is you try to use the big mama (driver) on every par 4 and 5.

This is the course that I learnt to manage my game with my irons and hybrids....the hard and humbling way.

My 2 cents worths Smile

Actually mate, sorry OT but you can declare an "unplayable" anywhere, even in the middle of the fairway.

It is entirely up to the player the opponent has no say in it.

Correct tho if the ball is in the bunker it still must be dropped in bunker.

It is better than champion golf.  And if you can play at Monday afternoon (they are having promotion now), it is cheaper than Champion.

Actually I disagree to a certain extent.
Champions golf is quite nice now after the new make over.
Still Cow grass for most parts. But I prefer the layout.

Now got a good deal. Weekdays After 5pm only $21.50 nett.

if only i was finishing work earlier !  Sad

I can only play golf on week ends (excluding driving range of course)

i dont know if it is worth paying 70/110SGD  (9H/18H) + 9/18 SGD (buggy) on week ends  =/

Played at Changi for the first time this morning. I must say I found it a pretty challenging course, lots of slopes, tricky putts on slopes.. but had fun. Quite well kept, grass was green (most parts) and buggy well maintained. Will def go back again Smile

My ball overshot the green and rolled down the slope. Took 2 swings with my lob wedge to get the ball back up to the green... killer course.. my coach said some pros also fail the pro test playing there haha

Hole 6/15 where the tee box is just beside the half way house. A par 4 that is driveable if you are a long hitter. High risk/high reward kind of hole.

Agree hole 6 is quite challenging and must be careful when near the green (ball may roll down to valley).  and #5 & 7 are all blind holes.

Personally like #5 and #6 the best.
