oh ya... another method would be to increase driver length, i think an additional inch would give you the desired 10m gain...

i have decided it will be easier to blame the equipment so i going to try a lower loft driver and a higher kick point shaft...once im done with my experiment i can share wif u too....in any case if u see me selling some new ping driver with some nice lookin shaft....u would know that my experiment has failed...and it boils down to what my shifu always say ....LOFT....

Kian, put me on top of waiting list, if this happen..hehehehe...but i think i am dreaming..

To qualify my post, I'm nowhere near golfool2009's handicap nor a qualified clubfitter so I'm commenting as a fellow golfing enthusiast.

I think the main problem is the angle of attack. At 91 mph and the smash factor already maxed out, I think the carry can be improved by increasing the angle of attack. Assuming the driver shaft is fitted for you and that you do not want to increase your driver loft to beyond 10.5*, your last point in your first post is probably your best course of action. If the shaft is not fitted, I think you know who to go to. As a comparison, someone like Bubba Watson has a positive LAUNCH ANGLE of 13.5* (edited: his AoA is +5*). His club's static loft is 7.5* (unverified and based on reading off the Internet for both statistics).

Other things to check:-
- Ball placement (off left instep at least)
- Tee height (at least half ball over crown)

I was hitting balls at bfg jkt, and Yarra gave me a tip to try tee the ball higher, and try hitting up on the ball. Before i always tee it low to lower launch.

My aoa was negative 1deg with 95mph, 1.41-43 smash, 16 launch angle, 4500 spin. 190 carry

After yarra's tip, i was getting positive 0.4 aoa, 3700 spin, ard 14 launch angle, 1.45 smash and voila, carry over 200. Hitting up on the ball actually reduce my spin and launch, but more carry!

Im not skinny but i do need lessons to get to 1.47-8 smash and 2-4 deg aoa. I shud be able to carry 210, given my size.

so GF, like sham said, hit up a bit more to increase your AOA, but keep the smash Very Happy

Bro PS, it looks like my AOA is already there and i think my launch angle is also within the recommended parameters....therefore, what's holding me back is really swing speed....i need to replicate the above stats at a higher swing speed.....that's the issue i think...but how best to increase SS?

in case anyone was wondering, i'm ignoring all of sham's comments since he doesn't understand the woes of the average joe's driver......though i will respond that i did try adding an extra inch, but i couldn't balance on high heels......

Phew!

For a while, I thought you would say add the inches thru some organic enhancement.

This is all i have from the readings:
Club speed: 91mph
Ball speed: 137mph
Smash factor: 1.51
Carry: 193m
Angle of attack: 0.3
Club path: -3.6
Swing Dir: -3.4
Spin rate: 2500

Thanks for starting this interesting thread. I am no expert but thought I'll share my 2 cents.... Smile

Your club path is out-to-in and imparts a lot of slice spin on the ball. That reduces your distance significantly (I estimate 10% distance loss). Spin rate is also a little low.

I am guessing that while the cut spin could bring your ball to a decent apex height but there is little or no roll after the ball drops.

What I would try is:
(1) try to straighten the out-to-in swing to -2.0 or nearer 0
(2) use a shorter driver to help better square the face at impact (this is dependent on your height and lie angle requirements, but unless you are over 1.9m, you should not have problems handling a 44" driver or less)
(3) measure the actual loft on your G15 and add around 1-1.5*. Each degree adds about 300-500rpm, depending on your AOA and swing.

Post your results ok?

Club path: -3.6

+/- 2.0, the ball still usually goes straight
+/- 3.0~5.0 draw or fade
+/- 5.0 and above severe hook or slice

Ummm, I don't understand this...how do i correct my out-to-in swing....? Does it mean that my swing is too steep???

I found this on the net:
The best drill to correct this problem is to get a headcover or other soft implement, and place it outside and barely behind your golf ball. If you come out to in you will hit the headcover first.

GF,

your out to in swing is very little, that drill may not be sensitive enough for you to detect and out to in swing.

Just got back from range and managed to hit consistently over 200 againts wind with the i15 and R9 460.
The only difference is my setup position against my iron.
On iron my setup is balance (left and right, ball somewhere between leg depending on club length).

On driver, ball is near left foot, leg is balance, but body is tilted away from the ball. The rest of the swing is just the same, start with hips (weight transfer ?), then shoulder will follow hips at a gap hand just drop, right hand smash it through.. Smile

Hope I can hang on to this without affecting my iron and hopefull the blue tee will not be so daunting after this.

Tomorrow play OCC, so let's see if I can repeat the Aranda 2 on drill.... can't wait.. jocolor

So whats holding you back? On a scale of 0-100% how much effort are you putting in (with 100 being giving it everything you have)? Do you have any injuries or flexibility limitations? Would be great to see a video of your swing ...

This is my short list of limitations:
1. Chicken legs
2. No muscle, 100% flab
3. Half swing
4. No flexibility
5. No athletic ability

My first order of business over the weekend will be to try a wider shoulder turn...i shall video tape (for the first time), my swing and post it here.... affraid affraid affraid

Hey Francis

Saw your swing in laguna

Honestly the amount of power you generate at the zone, where the club shaft is parallel to the ground behind you and the point where the club shaft is parallel to the ground in front of you is amazing! There is a name to call this zone. Think its a impact zone or something.

And because of this, the dist, the compression you get (with a half swing) is nothing short of jaw dropping, to me at elast. Maybe you sud put a pre-requisite for those you wanna play with you.

Half swing only allowed. A stroke penalty for every full swing....

hahahah

Francis is a unique individual who has his own unique swing. he might not be long off the tee but so what......thats his game DNA.

lets see if the where the pursuit for a longer drive will lead him...to places he has never been before.

getting a routine to ensure the ball is at the right position will help limit his fade but changing his swing is not a bad thing either...at least for his playing mates to get some money during the transition.

francis, think u play too often with the long hitters, which makes u turn your head for more distances off the tee....

i dun fancy black tees, its too much distance for us average hitters, i am contented playing from the blues..... average par4s abt 350-370m, still got chance for GIR, unlike the black

but i understand the voices in your head saying.....

i hear them when i sleep.... until my wife jolted me up n asked me to make milk for the kids

haizzz.... think i better stick with what i have, cos got no time to do so many things right

cos i doubt u have time coming.....

all the best being a father again.....
