PostSubject: Me and my nightmare...   Mon Sep 19, 2011 9:07 am

Many know me for my ability to hit long drives... but my experience yesterday at JGCC put forth a new milestone in my golfing diary...

It started pouring quite heavily on the 18th hole... I think my underwear was almost wet... needless to say... my palms were wet and my driver grips seems like a sponge (squeeze harder and water seems to seep out of it)

Nevertheless... having lost my bet with ZX and no other wager on the line, I decide to go easy on the last hole. It was so wet that I did not even put on the gloves as it will only make it more slippery.

Took my usual practice swings... with the rain getting heavier by the minute... I can feel the rain water trickle down my back and to 'you know where'... I step up to the ball and makes the swing at the ball...

Then just before impact... I have this weirdest feeling which I have never felt before since I first started golf... I finally understand the mother of all golfing concept... the concept of RELEASE... but in a negative way...

MY NEW DRIVER SLIPPED AND FLEW OUT OF MY GRIP just before I was about to contact the ball. There was no time to stop the slip and the whole club just started flinging out like a bird out of a cage. It manage to hit the ball just before the club lounge into the air. Ball rolled about 10m infront of me while my driver had what many people would describe as a nice baby draw and it did this 360 degrees rotation in the air... flying some 30m...

My heart sank... my balls shrunk and my flight mates looked at me with the widest eyes you can imagine...

Please dun talk to me about my driver for now... while I bask in the new nightmare of mine and hoping that I will wake up from it...

Happy Monday... Sad

so the distance between the ball and the driver was 40 m and you need a helmet? did you have to buy beer as well? i hope its only a nightmare so time to wake up Ah Tan.

however its good that you discuss this as you need to get it out of your system. in sports psychology, its call Note and Ease. In your case its easy to overcome, don't play in the rain and don't wear undies when you play golf.

have a good week ahead.

but it's ok...if u wannA sell ur driver I'm the first in Q ok?

DGman, you need to play with Chipmunk more often to know that he can actually hit 200m despite 10-40m carry ala Kranji 16th hole few week back.
I believe he was trying to repeat that feat to new audience.

Also, dun worry, We will check his balls Tmr to ensure no undies.

Ah chipmunk, so driver gt alignment aid again?

My dear DGman... yes... but it was punished with a jug of wo-de-mei-ren juice instead of beer... how unsympathetic can my flight mates be right??? Crying or Very sad

I agree with your psychological analysis of my grunt... It was working fine up until some *$#&%$ decide to add salt into my wound... I hope I can make them pay tomorrow...

But with regards to your advice on not playing with underwear... I'm not sure if I need the additional weight transfer in my olready cannot make it swing... Laughing

p.s.

Kian... you cannot handle my shaft... I meant... the driver shaft... tongue

Brooooo....you are so correct!!!!
Yesterday, I neglected my miyazaki for 15 holes in favor of the fubuki until the 16th hole when I took it out for a spin.
To cut long story short, I had to buy beer for the rest.

Lesson learnt, when golfing, be faithful or be fair when using 2 drivers.
Thankfully, my Miyazaki did not spurn me like hw chipmunk ahina did to him.
lol!

Mr. Long Hitter,

It is just a one off incident. To share with you, recently there was a very well respected golfer here who pleyed with us. On one hole, he was waiting for some workers to go off before he tees off but then, waited and watied, they did not go.. then no choice lor, have to tee off, he addressed, then swing, the ball flew up and down. Total distance - ball about 1 - 2 cm ahead and tee, about 5 cms behind.. all because he was concern about hitting the people in front..

Unless you are doing it more often, drivers flying I mean, please let me know, I would like to play with you more... I like to drink the wo-de-mei-ren juice too! Very Happy

I think if it were me, not only the driver will fly but I will also goes face first to the ground on the condition that you've described.

Coming from a guy who barely hits 200m with his driver, I will not have any confidence to hit it on those condition so hats off to you on that one ! And I do believe this is the first and probably the only occasion you will have in the long time to come. Even a squirell will fall off the tree once and it's been climbing and jumping around trees for all it's life.

If it's any consolation, I've also hit the ball about the same distance (maybe slightly further). Sad thing is that the club was in my hands all the time... sigh.

I was one of the 3 eye witnesses! You guys should have seen the flight of the driver, low penetrating trajectory with a counter clockwise rotation, a slightly left directional path but not in too deep of a trouble an accomplished golfer like Chimpmunk could not recover from. Definitely a wind cheater. I think it will do quite well in links courses like St Andrew's.

Hey Alvin, Look on the bright side, at least you know for sure that you are not casting!

If you were, the ball won't get hit at all and the driver will just land behind you.

At least you did some good by making 3 of us laugh! Focus on that and your day will be better.

alvin.. ur situation not so bad.. i have a friend who has similar case.. but its worse.. his driver flew up and got stuck to the tree 5m high.. we have to take stick and stone to throw at it and shake the truck to make it drop.. after that.. no one bother to see if the driver was damaged by all the sticks and stones..

haha
