@ Lee36328

I got a simple question, since we are on the topic of swingers and hitters.. Can a player be both?

For driver and long irons and mid irons (4,5, 6 and 7) - Swingers..
For short irons (8,9,PW , 52deg and 56 deg) - Hitters...

Personally, I feel more comfortable with swinging with my longer clubs and I only take very little divots and I let the weight of club falls itself... I find it very difficult to hit using longer clubs as I may just end up punching, slapping or even slicing. With that I just do a complete backswing and let it flow.

While for shorter clubs I do a shorter or 3/4 back swing and take more divot.

In fact, I have experimented with swinging on short irons and I end up pulling left. So now, I rather take a divot and punch it with an abbreviated follow thru.

I also prefer to punch my pitches for more control. Less rolling of right wrist. I intentionally steer the ball with my right hand a little bit, finish low etc etc so Basically a hitting motion.

so yes, we can hit and swing. it's just different ways of getting the ball to the target.

my BB kakis, Duval and Golfool are hitters, imo. Asahi is swinger, pun intended What a Face

no surprise, Duval/Gfool fades the ball. Asahi draws.

Can a player be a bit of both? Hit with shorter clubs and swing with longer clubs?

Absolutely.

And here's something else to ruminate on.

One can also actually swing and hit, IN THE SAME SWING. Combining key elements of both, at the right places, to get the best out of the swing.

But, naturally, difficult to master.

A hitter is more accurate, esp with shorter irons.

A swinger is longer, esp with longer clubs.

Hence, your experience as you have discovered. Good job.

Yup, sounds like a hitter's procedure.

And just to be clear, respectfully, we can equally fade or draw or hit straight with either hitting or swinging.
