My top x suggestions are:

1. To buy clubs (especially blade type) , one need to produce their HCP to the sales consultant of the golf shop.

2. Every single handicapper should be given authority (in the form of a badge) to call out at ragne for any incorrect advice by someone who cant even hit the ball properly in the range...and try teaching his girl friend or mates.

3. Color coding to differentiate the std of golfers. eg. officially able to play fm blue, should wear blue top....if play fm white, must wear white top. This is to set the right expectation eliminate all possible 'impostor'.

I think the most impt thing to learn BEFORE even taking lessons is,
to pass a stringent Golf etiquette test. haha.
You may or not be able to play (well) but if you have good golf etiquette, everyone enjoys, this INCLUDES behaviour at the DRIVING RANGE.

pt 1, they can buy anything they like..
pt 2, see my signature. ( and there are reverse sandbaggers )
pt 3, that is up to the club to decide, OCC allows anyone with hcp to play off blue.
anyway if there are black tees, these same folks will play too!

May I add in a suggestion on this topic as well.

When someone comes here looking for advice regarding a swing problem, anyone giving some advice MUST FIRST quantify his experience by stating how long he have played golf and his current Handicap. It always tickle me to hear advices coming from beginners who just started golf recently or couple of months and repeated what their coach told them. Everyone have his own unique swing so what the coach taught him may not be suitable to the person looking for advice. This will give the person looking for advice a choice of whose advice to take. Sometimes even a person who played golf for years (like me 8 years HC 17) still can't give advice because he still plays like a seasoned beginner. I hope this suggestion is taken well.

Wah! Like during my army days. We wear colour badges to identify the person's proficiency in language.

1. Green - Can speak English
2. Orange - Can speak Mandarin
3. Blue - Can speak Malay
4. Yellow - Can speak Indian

But, but what about single handicappers who have no etiquette and believe they are the supreme being in golfing and reserve the right to run down lesser beings. Shouldn't this supreme being be punished, since he have no patience nor care for his buggy mate to put it more bluntly.

Well, those who post their swing here asking for advice because they find coaching expensive... they should know what they are in for. Be careful what you ask for, you may get it.

And guess what?

Not even the foremost experts can agree on the swing. Because we don't know everything about it yet. And that includes the top coaches as well as scientists.

But we do know that in your context, using miuras blades will shave 10 strokes.

I think we should put this into context. This is only applicable to this particular user and other might have different experience's to it.

I didn't use Miura when I managed to break 90 consistently, that was Mizuno MP-68 (from TM R7 CGB Max). Switched to Miura, went up to low-mid 90's, and now back to mid 80's again. But still have not managed to break 80. So it doesn't seems to work for me, at least not so far.

Another thing to take into consideration, iron is only one part of the game. There are Driver, Wood and Putter that needs to be taken into account. All the three and specially putter, can dramatically change your score in a game.

IMHO, it's never that simple and with so many factor in play, it's hard to keep track of what cause what change.

There are already too many rules in golf ( some of which are stupid imho). Golf is just a sport and mainly for leisure for majority of golfers except the pros, who are dependent on it for a living. Do we need more rules to take away the pleasure of playing it?

Ha Ha. Thanks for responding, dmateo and SamT.

No harm done, no worries. I enjoy the banter. And I love salt so I take it with everything. Laughing

If and when I break 80 with the Miuras, I look forward to posting about it here. Twisted Evil cheers

Bro Yeo,

Yes indeed, I posted in the thread, which invited swing videos for free comments, and the thread was asking why forummers were so shy about posting their videos, so I responded (yet somehow never got any comments...) Not because I found coaching expensive and was looking for free comments (have hired multiple coaches already...)

And yes, I am fully aware what I am in for when I do ask for feedback. You see, you need to know the style of the person offering comments, and adapt it to your style. And differentiate style-differences from genuine faults, if you know how to tell the difference.

Hmmm.... talking about swing always gets me so animated. Either that, or the coffee I am having with this cheese cake. Enjoy your afternoon tea, everyone.

Peace.

You can have a million more rules to the game, but one wants to cheat, he will always cheat.

on the 80's that makes both of us. too many if only cases for me. You know it's funny when you think how hard it is to save those 1-2 shot that you need. And it's heart breaking when those birdie or par put just lip out or passed the hole within few cm or even mm away.

I have a single handicap friend who aligns right of target and still hit straight all the time. Bloody frustrating. Bad day shoots 79 off blue. End of the day, it is good to have a score like his, and a swing like mine. But heck....after soooo..... long, I honestly would still see the score card. I think Jim Furyk would agree too. Very Happy
