PostSubject: Taylormade Torque Wrenches   Thu Sep 24, 2009 12:00 pm

Hey guys just a quick question. Smile

i'm thinking of getting a taylormade 2009 rescue tp on ebay which comes with the FCT you have in the R9 drivers. but the white wrench isn't included and i'm wondering if i could use the yellow wrench i have for my r7 limited instead?

i read that the new wrench gives 40 inch-pounds of torque whereas the older wrenches give only 30 because "the FCT bolt requires 40 inch-pounds of torque to tighten fully". would a little elbow grease suffice?

thanks guys. Smile

Not recommended.... without enough torque, the bolt may not be screwed on tightly... i read the same disclaimer in my r9 driver specs also... thus better to use the white TM wrench to be safe, i dont thk you wan to ruin your 09 rescue. Worst to happen is the head come off during swinging and could injure someone...

Also, ideally when you buy the rescue, it should come with the white TM wrench in 1 complete set.... why not included?

As mentioned, not recommended. Using the yellow torque wrench will not work. The yellow wrench simply cannot apply the necessary torque required. It will begin 'clicking' at 30 inch-pound and you won't be able to apply any additional torque.

You could just get a generic wrench and tighten away, but you'd risk damaging the threads. I'd pass unless it was dirt cheap...

unless you need to adjust the FCT everytime you play... otherwise, u can juz borrow from us (yes, i have one) when required... i think the den also has one (good reason to go there frequently then)...

this is what friends and the forum is for...

btw, the torque wrench is designed to "break" at the torque limit set, so additional elbow grease cant get you anywhere.

alamak.. damn proprietary equipment.

haha thanks for the replies guys. yeah i guess if i'm really getting the rescue i'd have to look for the white wrench. i quite like to tinker with things. makes things new and more exciting to use.

and as for why it isn't coming with the wrench, it's cos i'm getting a second hand one.

well now i have to source for the white wrench.. or maybe i could just come down to the den. every now and then. haha

I would have to say yes... Neutral

If you're like me, you'll tinker with it for a while till you find the optimum setting for your swing, then leave it in that setting for good. You're welcome to loan my white wrench till you do. I never really played much with the settings on my R9 Max. Still on neutral... Embarassed

I had no problems using the yellow wrench on my R9 driver and 3wood at all. I use it regularly, and as long as you hear the 2 clicks, you will be just fine IMHO.

Or I think you can buy it from the taylormade sotre if you really want.

I use the aftermkt torque wrench which I bought from normal hardware shop but I hardly change the weight as neutral is good for me.
