anyway, i find that such violence is really stupid. hit someone with a club and spend at least a few weeks in the slammer. not worth it at all.

it's like road rage, i hope the courts and police take a stern approach to such things.

There are so many hooligans in our golf courses nowadays each behaving as if the course belong to them. Plus ego is the mother of all violence.

i think worst if he those hooligans are not members and put their friends who are members at risk of being suspended.

Here is the link to news article yesterday. It's a sad situation for golf here. Hope it is an isolated incident. Slow play and poor etiquette is bound to create frustration for golfers. More needs to be done by our governing bodies SGA and SPGA to educate golfers and coaches to make this aspect of the game just as important as hitting the ball. Perhaps more emphasis on etiquette and pace of play is needed for those conducting courtesy rounds and coaches teaching beginners. A review of PC testing standards may also help.
I feel slow play is the #1 cause of these incidents.

Interesting news to wake up to. Speculation... Kinda agree with what Sillyteskey said "Sorry no cure" syndrome.

Someone from back flight tee off and land near front flight. Culprit realize and went to apologize. Front flight (victim) probably apply "sorry no cure" theory and proceed to whine away. Culprit buay tahan pull wedge. Result.... victim become bigger victim and culprit go to jail.

From experience.... sometimes even if you make an honest mistake on course and apologize people can be not gracious about things and forgive and forget and can turn abusive just because they are technically correct. So in the end this kinda thing can happen. (errr did not happen to me la... but same flight)

Golfer bashed at Kranji course

GOLF is hardly a contact sport, but a fight broke out between two golfers on Wednesday morning, landing one of them in hospital.

The name of the golfers are not known, but the incident took place at the Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course.

Mr Mohamed Saiful, 35, the senior course marshal, told The New Paper: "When we arrived, the man was sitting on the golf buggy and bleeding from his head. There was blood on his shirt too. We administered first aid as we had been trained to do."

The National Service Resort and Country Club (NSRCC), which runs the golf course, said they are investigating the incident.

More in The New Paper on Friday (Dec 9).

How come golf becoming so stress in SG? i thought it's a game where everyone destress, if go golf course still so stress up, then go boxing class better. when people is slow and you cannot tahan complain to the marshal, or if people apologize just forgive and forget, end of the days aren't playing golf a relaxing sports where people go to destress after a week of hectic/stress work life.

Seems that Kranji has alot of incident, i heard my friend whom also kena challenge to a fight b4.

Let's be more patient and gracious next time, make the game a nice and memorable one in a good way, not a bad one. If too stress at golf course, you are better off sleeping at home.

Kaypo a bit... Confirm it was a fight on Wed.

Anyway, was golfing at Kranji this morning. At hole 17, par 3, my flightmate hooked his shot and his ball landed on the very left near the water. As we were driving towards the green, one guy from the other fairway walked to his ball, picked it up and walked off quickly. We shouted to him it's my flightmate's ball. As we got to him, he said he left the ball there. And guessed where he left it? He dropped it 20m away from the last position and was on the rough of his fairway across our green after the buggy track. He did not even bother to walk back to the last position and put the ball back.

Can you imagine if we were on big bets in tens of thousands? What would be the impact?

Probably some fights and arguments derived from such cases.

Hence, guys... Don't just pick up balls in Sg courses as many holes are crossed. Dun call anyone with beard your father.

LLP may be crappy in this forum almost everytime but I sure can be serious when sharing some views that will affect our lives.

Sibeh sian ah! Hehehe....

These are ghian phng golfers who go round picking other golfers' balls. If cannot even afford to buy ball they should not have play this game.

On the other hand, I think if that guy drop the ball 20m from where it originally was, flight mates should all agree to allow the ball to be place as near as where it originally was. Smile
