PostSubject: Hello   Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:10 am

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to golf and this forum, hoping to get to know others who are also starting. Basically my office mates are mostly golfers who think of me as easy meat, and hopefully by the end of this year, I am able to reverse the tables.......

Hey bro blong,

Requisite number of cards for courtesy round? You mean for your Handicap test? They take 9-hole cards too?

I was under the impression that only 18-hole cards need apply, and you have to card a 110 and below for that round

Hey, yeah for the handicap test, they accept 10x 9hole or 5x 18hole, at least that's how I understood the info on the website.

To clarify, under USGA handicap requirements, a minimum of 5 x 18H scorecards is required to generate a handicap index. 9H scorecards can be combined for submission (as long as course and slope rating information is present, handicap systems of most clubs will be able to generate a proper differential).

Please note that 9H scores from courses which are not USGA rated can't be used simply because there is no way to calculate a proper differential. Most exec courses in Singapore are not USGA rated. However, they are still a good place to practice to improve.

One more thing to note, the fewer scores posted, the lower your handicap is likely to be. The table below shows the number of scores used for calculating your handicap based on the total number of scores submitted:

Submitted / Used for Calculation

5-6 / lowest 1
7-8 / lowest 2
9-10 / lowest 3
11-12 / lowest 4
13-14 / lowest 5
15-16 / lowest 6
17 / lowest 7
18 / lowest 8
19 / lowest 9
20 / lowest 10

Once more than 20 scores are submitted, the most recent 20 scores are used.
