PostSubject: Help!Outdrove by a 14 yr old!   Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:31 am

Had a game where we were joined by another 2 baller, a 50yr old and a 14 yr old.Thought that it would be a slow game today til the kid teed off at the 1st hole.

We had already teed off when the kid stepped up and let ripped with his drive .It was nice smooth swing and straight, split the fairway. Now me and my flightmate are not long drivers, we avrg 210-220 which I think is pretty decent. But the kid's ball was easily 10-20 meters ahead!!!
We thought that it might have been a fluke shot, but after the next couple of holes we were resigned to getting our ass whipped.
The kid was not big, tall or ripped, avrg looking kid.

Can't imagine what his drives gonna be like when starts getting muscles.

Need retail therapy to get over this!

when you are ready sob....i can arrange for 2 kids to play with you...

one is 14 and shoots anything from under to just over par from blue.

the other is 16 and shoots mostly underpar from championship tee. i would put my money on him to beat most of the younger touring pros in Singapore.

you may have to buy half of BFG after that to get over it.

Ai Mai?

Aiya, take heart. I also kena before. By a 12 years old girl. These kids might have started swinging at age of 4? I only started at age of 36.

Last time young very poor one leh. Stay two room flat, where got money to learn golf. Eat also not enough. Unlike now, with economy growth, richer parents, kids have better and more opportunities.

I just think to myself, always play against par (i.e., against myself), though I must admit quite disheartening. Hahaha.

andre has all the potential and his hand eye coordination is superb. that boy will go far too and he is very spontaneous and free-spirited kid.

when i told him its time for him to use steel shaft, he was so happy. only the father was a bit sad cos got to upgrade....haha

@eji - he had a nice 2nd shot and short game to go with the drive.Needs some work with the putting though. He had a Graman 5 on the driver, maybe he needs a zen to go with that.

Really low morale when a grown adult cannot out drive a kid.

Eric- would luv to play against better players to improve but afraid I cannot afford to buy half your stocks. Can a bit a bit buy? Lol.

nothing wrong being outdriven or outplayed by kids.

Isn't the next generation supposed to be better than the previous one?

anyway, not know u too well, but there are cases where the younger one actually played more golf than the older dudes.

S70B and jhan18 here is a good example.

Outdriven by young kid is not as bad as outdriven by a senior 10 years older or more.

the short game and approach play didnt come out as obvious as the main topic header. To me you are highlighting only the boy's drives.

One of Eric's prodigy, Yash, hits it way longer than me but what amazes me is his dedication and work ethics, he is at NSRCC everyday. he will be at the chipping and putting green everyday working on his short game, then he goes to range to hit his irons and some drives. But I am more amaze at his short game and thats what i really need to work towards.

sob next time i arrange for 14 year old girl who will outdrive most of our guys...

here's how demure she looks...

she is the one in pink with the you know what logo...

a bad round is 79/80, that's how good they are in competition and these kids play in tournaments week in week out.

Andre is also very competitive in nature so it helps.

2 weeks ago, 2 Philippines juniors flew over for 2 days of fitting. those 2 have lots of potential too and when they came to pick up their club on monday, they were rewarded with meeting Mardan, taking lots of photos and autographs.

for kids to grow up playing well, they need lots of proper training and competition to sharpen their game. my experience with children not doing well is always the parent (s), so i always spent a lot of time communicating with the kids to find out why they want to play golf.

While I'm really disheartened that a young golfer can embarrass me horribly on the course, I'm actually elated to know that we have many young talents out there.

Keep at it, kids! You'll do us all proud Smile

Yash has the advantage of living in Thailand where he took part in lots of competition. he is naturally talented and ready to learn. so its no wonder that he wins all the junior competition in his age group in Singapore ahead of all the Sports School boys. the other boy who have grown and changed is "i". but when he is ready to play, he will work at it and come back with good scores to match.

so play golf cannot be forced, it can only be motivated...we all have different reasons to play golf...like......

1. get away from wife or avoid housework on weekends
2. play with boss so that can advance in career
3. wants to be the club champion
4. wants to dress like Ian Poulter
5. looking forward to drinking session afterwards.
6. Japanese Lunch at Fuurin

whatever your reasons, your aspiration to do better will be equal to the task.

.

No offense meant in the prev post, could match the rest of his game but pissed that a grown man cannot out drive a 14 yr old kid.So only highlighted his driving, I mean how many of us would never get a 230-240 meter drive in this life time?

SOB,

when younger kids out drive you.
Do not be upset by it.

Most of these kids started young and their swing are already grooved to perfection.

Just a suggestion, try bring 3 more balls that can fly farther.
In my country, a lot are using Ladies ball to achieved the distance so needed

I salute you DGman.

by the way, off track abit...what is a good age to let a child start swinging?....my son's turning 3 soon and i am thinking of getting a kid's putter to let him play on my putting mat.

thats a good way to introduce him to golf. start from the putter just like Slinger's precious Ah Girl.

i have a customer and we call him russian spy cos he is from eastern europe. he's got 2 boys, older boy hates the sound in the Den and do not like to come. younger one loves the "boom" and always head for putting green. i think he is about 2+.

strange thing i have noticed, if there are 2 kids playing in the family, the younger one always seem to be better...just like Ariya and Moriya of Thailand.
