| As mentioned by willkang, wait till you get outdriven and out played by a 55 yr old man who just recovered from a sprained wrist 3 months back.
His ability to get out of trouble and his short game is FREAKING AMAZING!!!!. He calls it "ZEN GOLF" I kid you not. I am having a reamtch with him this sunday. We will see what happens.
To get back on topic. It is great to see kids showing dedication and passion fro something that they really like and to excel at it.
It can be a bit sad to see kids being forced by parents into something that they don't like. This is very common here in Vietnam. Looking at the looks on the faces of the kids is really sad.....

| We should be encouraged by the younger ones playing well. I really enjoy playing with them. Definitely can learn a thing or two from them. My son is three and he is taking to golf quite nicely. Wife tells me that i will get my ass whipped when he reaches his teens (provided he continues to enjoy the game) and i am a single capper. But if i do see that day when i get my ass whipped, i would be quietly very please and proud. | sob wrote: | Had a game where we were joined by another 2 baller, a 50yr old and a 14 yr old.Thought that it would be a slow game today til the kid teed off at the 1st hole.
We had already teed off when the kid stepped up and let ripped with his drive .It was nice smooth swing and straight, split the fairway. Now me and my flightmate are not long drivers, we avrg 210-220 which I think is pretty decent. But the kid's ball was easily 10-20 meters ahead!!! We thought that it might have been a fluke shot, but after the next couple of holes we were resigned to getting our ass whipped. The kid was not big, tall or ripped, avrg looking kid.
Can't imagine what his drives gonna be like when starts getting muscles.
Need retail therapy to get over this!

I always wanted to gate crash and join the junior flight. But they are like telling me " uncle you're too old, don't disturb our game" |

Rather than getting him onto lessons, how about letting him fool around first when you're at the range and see his reaction towards it?
He can start proper lessons once he'd displayed interest I guess. |

If you stay in the west, can check out Heartlands Golf School at JCC. They have a good junior golf programme which caters to different levels from beginners all the way to elite. I send my daughter for lessons there and she enjoys the opportunity to mingle with other kids. At their age, its important to keep golf fun to sustain the interest. Btw, she started when she was seven. |
