PostSubject: How to hit with a Driver?   Tue Oct 06, 2009 12:07 am

Good evening everyone,

I test-drive my newly acquired driver this evening @ driving range, however i encounter some errors that i cannot figure out what is wrong.

I place the ball on a rubber tee and then tried to hit it with my driver. The strange thing is that whenever the club hit the ball, a loud "bang" goes off and then the ball fly barely 10-25m ahead and dive straight to the ground.

ps: I will be starting my beginner lesson soon, just tt my backside itchy wanna try hit with a driver.

If anyone could enlighten me a little bit, would appreciate it.

regards
Bryant

You may be topping your drivrr. Hitting the top part of the ball. Check the ball mark. If it is at tge sole itis wrong. You must get it at the center

Does your ball roll a lot?
If not, high possibility is you hit the ground first then mishit the ball.

hmmm if you're just starting out, i wouldn't go into the finer details about the mechanics of the swing so my best advice would be (as it has worked for me) to observe and emulate the swings of other people. preferably those that are hitting the ball well.

when i just started and i just watched tiger's swing over and over and it kinda helped me with rhythm and tempo and what a proper swing looked like.

just my opinion! Very Happy

Haiz...

All my shot with the driver did not hit the ground, coz no residue of the green carpet on the club sole. The thing is tt it did manage to hit the ball, it just didn't take off...

Think you are trying too hard to hit the ball up. Go get a pro to teach you properly

only time the ball goes 25m off the driver is when i hit it with the bottom of the driver and it bounce off the mat and travel straight 25m. BTW the sound is very loud, like a crash. I use to do this a lot, until i bought a higher tee and dont tee so forward (use to be after my left foot)

See where the ball mark is on the face. Even a 1/2 swing with driver should travel over 50m. my wife just push the driver, the ball travel 20m.

I've not had a pitch-drive for some time but I've had runners (no flight - just speeders on the ground) and righties (go far, but way to the right ----> FORE!!!!) Smile

Another variation is called ... Stealth-Drive... it goes very low above the ground or rolled on the ground (below radar range) and still travel far.

did u place your ball in line with your left feet/toe? cos for drivers, as far as i know, you have to hit it when your club is on the 'upswing motion'..

if u place the ball centre, you will have the tendency to mis-hit/ or the ball just wouldn't 'take off' (I think this also has to do with the loft of the driver)

And since u haven had any lessons thus far, maybe you should stick with irons first. they are way easier to hit. lol...=) good luck!
