Dear all,

we have cases where the epoxy breaks up and the heads literally drop off the shaft.

although it involves leaving them in hot corners of the house or in a car under a sun for a prolonged period of time, its best not to leave them in the trunk for prolonged period of time.

all the driving around and rattling will not do your clubs any good.

The club fitting master has spoken. I'm sold !!! The idea is out of window for me now. Thanks Eric.

For me no choice cos must squeeze time from in between appointments for range else wouldn't have time to touch my clubs for days... Or even weeks...

So no choice... But I mostly park in shelter carpark so no sure whether does it help...

I moved my clubs home after reading this post. Fitter at BFG also advised me not to always keep clubs in the boot. All the solvents in the grips and head shaft connection gets heated up over time and may loosen the connections over prolonged periods.

Your car FC will suffer surely ?

Extra 10-14kg weight (on top of anything else) is not good for your car, not to mention the heat like what the rest has highlighted...

mine is forever it the trunk, but it's ok since I mostly park the car indoor, so no issue with heat.

The only time the car is on open car park for a long time is when I'm playing.

I think you petrol consumption will suffer more. Petrol prices going up, extra weight extra consumption in the long run.

putting things into pespective, the average weight of a car (sports car doesn't count) is around 1.5 tons. that' is 1500 kg. The average human weight is 70-90 kg. (that's roughly 4.5-6%). The average golf bag (at least mine) is aroudn 12kg which comes to around .8% of the car weight.

I think driving the difference is negligible and I personally believe driving style will save you more petrol significantly more than a golf bag at the back trunk.. again IMHO.

If your clubs are forged (and you don't have iron covers) all the bouncing around (assume that you drive to work everyday etc) may cause clinks and dinks?

I personally also feel that the weight is negligible since the 12kg is not much compare to a person's weight. Also, the extra 10-20km that you have to drive to go home to pick up the golf bag from work will neutralize the savings of not having the golf bag in the car.

My main concern is the heat. I guess if you are lucky to park your car in a multi-story car park, it would be ok to leave it there. Smile

but it is true that my FC was worse after i pick up golf recently. Monthly petrol spending also went up. I always thought it was due to the sets in the boot.... Sad

Then again thinking about it, it should be due to all the extra driving to the various ranges around the island.... Embarassed
