PostSubject: To use gloves or not ?   Thu Apr 26, 2012 12:40 am

Was at the range recently and tried a couple of shots without my gloves on. Seem to have more feel and better control? When I was new, I needed the gloves because I'm duffing/topping the shot more often than not.. Was thinking whether to continue using gloves. I seldom see pple play without gloves though.. What do you guys think?

i read somewhere that says pros remove their gloves during chipping and putting for more feel.

Guess its up to personal preference.

In this heat and humidity , good luck with practicing for an hour or so without gloves!

I play without gloves for many years, saved quite some money.
More importantly, don't need to remove glove when chipping and putting.

I don't wear glove too. Have a better feel. I also don't experience perspiration in my palms. I thought perspiration should appear on arms, body and backside only. It may flow from the arms but you can always wipe dry on your pants before taking the shot.

Guess it is a matter of preference.
There's pro for example, Fred Couples - who plays w/o it.

on course maybe can do without it.
but at range if hitting 100-200 balls, may end up with abrasions on the hand?

as it is, i can see my glove starting to get worn out at certain places after using for less than a month.

I used to be very choosy about gloves, insisting only on the very best cabretta leathers like Titleist or Footjoy.

Then I realised choosing and maintaining a good rubber grip on the club is so much more effective. I stopped using gloves for a few years by now.

So far, no blisters, no abrasions and no flying clubs even in the rain or range. And I can feel the impact so much better.

Best of all, no uneven tan lines so it's easier to hide where I've been...... Cool

I prespire alot, so glove is a must for me since my hand will be wet after a few minutes under the sun. And once this happen, i will tend to grip to hard without glove and all hell break loose.......

For those who wear glove (As if you don't already know Smile ), it's better to have a spare to rotate in case you perspire a lot.

FJ Rain Glove ... can wash and reuse, good grip when wet or dry, and relatively cheap

Only drawback is not as soft as the leather ones

i do get sweaty palms so i think i will still need to wear gloves. Grip im using: Stock TM multicompound (similar to GP multicompond). Gloves im using: FJ Weathersoft (cos its cheap)..

Think ill try using thinner gloves first... Problem is that they are costly.. Thats why im thinking of doing without them altogether. rabbit

Just try to keep the glove in shape and out of the heat, will make the glove last much longer.

I rotate my gloves frequently to extend their lifespan.

FJ GTX & Fit39 seem to work well for me due to my sweaty palm.

I hand wash my gloves after game and range session too.

just checking, is ur glove too 'loose'. Some models have different cut (same size). One glove i have is good fit for fingers and other areas but the palm area very 'loose'. Totally useless.

Also some of those synthetic leather ones very thick and cannot 'fold' properly. when close hand, got a huge bulge on the palm....also feels like wearing dishwashing gloves

alternative to leather is cloth type like the FootJoy rain grip...totally wet also still can use!!!!! but cannot last long for me too.

The best glove i am using is synthetic suede....think kasco brand (glove in my car boot now), bought at Isetan sale a few years ago.....still in good condition, very good grip even when dripping wet and dont need to take care at all (just need to wash to remove the bacteria and smell)..

Me also interested in the Fit39
