Phil now +6 and bubba +7 together with Tiger -2 have 3 more holes to play (6, 7 & 8). I understand hole 6 is a tough hole.

It is good too see Tiger in top 3 on round 1 ...

I am going to sleep after Tiger is finished ... Maybe wake up early and see whether can catch with Rory, Lee & Luke last few holes.

Tiger misses the green, in the bunker at hole 6.

The size of the crowd looks like day 4 instead of day 1.

Tiger's bunker shot at the 6th goes past the pin, leaving him with a difficult downhill putt.

And..... Tiger's patience pays off with another birdie at hole 5, after throttling back his tee shot to make sure he lands on the fairway. Tiger at -2 now and climbs to T2.

That putt was like 35 feet? I did not expect him to make it, going too fast. If not stopped by the hole, it would have zoomed past.

Missed the putt, bogey. Back down to -1, T5.

That clears hole 1-6, the gauntlet.

Kevin Na just double bogeyed hole 6.

The delay is holding up Tiger's group at the tee box at hole 7, the drivable par 4 that Quiros aced at practice yesterday.

Tiger is sitting on his golf bag while waiting. Phil is practically breathing down Na's neck as he tees off, and.... slices his tee shot to the right. So, more delay.

Na looks like he almost jumping out of his skin with nerves. Holding up Tiger and Phil does not help his OCD.

Finally Na is done w hole 17 and Phil can tee off.

But he double crossed his fade and is in the right trees again.

Tiger over cuts and is in the bunker/rough.

Bubba aims way right at the trees but the ball does not come back.

Should be interesting to see how this hole plays out.

Bear in mind its a par 4, so they can still make par.

Phil is hit his tee shot to the right under the tree. He seems to be hitting it everywhere ...

Tiger tee shot hit the deep rough ... smell trouble

bubba tee hit the right side into the people ..

You know, the people watching this group, instead of mobile phone cameras, they should bring helmets.

Ironically, Phil and Bubba escaped jail and are on the green for a potential birdie putt.

Tiger is short out of the bunker and ball rolls off the green down the false front.

Tiger makes a clean chip to gimme length to save par.

Bubba's downhill breaking putt misses but should make par.

Phil's birdie putt... burns the left edge. Par.

Hole 7

Phil 2 on 2 putts = par
Bubba 2 on 2 putts = par
Tiger 3 on 1 putt = par

Thomson strong, finished and lead with -4

Tiger's group is finishing at hole 8.

The slopes around the hole are just completely covered with people. Amazing.

After Tiger's tee shot, Bubba is bobbing around eyeing Tiger's club to gauge what iron he played and the effective distance.

Then he hits it slightly closer to the pin than Tiger. Ha ha ha.

Wah, Pak. Did not sleep? Strong man. I dozed off, just woke up.

Checked the leaderboard. What a carnage.

Andy Zhang finished at +9. Luke Donald at hole 16 is also +9. That's quite something.

Luke +9
