Question - What is it about ICON that justifies its pricing? I wear the Adidas 360 LTD and am looking at the new 4.0, which seems quite technologically convincing. Would like to know more about the ICON if it is worth considering. Thanks.

Hi benhogan,

I suggest leaving the answers for FJ staff and not attempt to answer for them.

This is an official Q&A and dialogue thread where FJ and their staff will answer the questions.

For all other members, please use this thread to post questions only. For discussions, please start new threads as chatting here may bury the actual questions and they may be overlooked by FJ staff.

We thank you for your co-operation.

Dear sebastian,

FootJoy would not be answering question pertaining to pricing. Please open a separate thread for this and members may advise you on retailers.

Pricing, retailers and business strategy would be out of the Q&A scope.

We are glad that you liked the SofJoy gloves. Unfortunately, we have dropped this glove from our product line at the end of last year. It seems you have a preference for leather gloves. As a possible replacement option, you may want to consider the StaCooler glove. The StaCooler features a cabretta leather palm and Coolmax Lycra mesh on the back of the glove. Best thing here is the Aloe Vera coating applied onto the leather that will help keep your hands nice and soft after each round of golf. Check it out and let us know if they will work for you.

Please visit our FJ Icon website at www.fjicon.com for more information on our new flagship product. We will not comment on the competitor product you have mentioned for obvious reasons but you may want to consider why more than 60% of the players on the PGA and EPGA tours are using FJ shoes. These guys play for big prize money and they will use the best products available to make sure they make it to the weekend and hopefully be at the top of the leaderboard. This is probably the simplest way to attest to a product's quality and superiority. On your question of the FJ Icon pricing justification, other than the numerous special product features on the shoes, you may like to know that the premium full-grain leather (and calf-skin leather detailing on some models) we use to build the FJ Icon shoes is in itself well worth the shoe's value. You may want to make a mental note of this when you shop around for a pair of 'premium' golf shoes. Hope this helps.

It will be difficult to put a time frame onto the durability of our FJ gloves, or any gloves for that matter, because this will depend very much on the player using the gloves and to some extend the material used in the glove construction. We have seen in some cases where a leather glove lasted only 1 round because of excessive twisting of the club during the swing process resulting in a tear near the base of the palm. In general, a glove should easily provide you 15 to 20 rounds of golf and yes, you will have to include those days you spend at the driving range in case you forget. In the QC lab of our FJ glove factory, we have daily on-going durability test on the raw materials we purchase. We have grinding machines that are programmed to simulate the wear and tear stress that the gloves goes through in a swing and our standard has been always been in excess of 2,000 grinding motion. Translate this to the number of shots you take for each round you play or the number of balls you hit at the range, you will have an idea of how long your FJ glove will last. One other thing, how you care for your glove after use will also determine it's useful lifespan.

Say the FJ shoe supposed to have 2yr waterproof warranty; I find out after 1.5yrs, that the shoe is no longer waterproof, can I claim warranty?

There is some debate going on about Icon and Synr-G. Is it true that Synr-G has more technology behind than Icon as it seems to be rather popular among professionals? There is a guess that Icon is more costly due to the material rather than technology. Any truth in that?

We are sorry to hear of the waterproof problem you have with your FJ shoes. Unfortunately, the warranty we offer in Singapore is for only 12 months and not for 2 years. The latter is applied only in markets where the temperate climate only permit golf to be played 6-8 months of the year. You are welcome to send the shoes back to the retailer you purchased the shoes from for us to assess the shoes condition. If the warranty period has just passed the deadline within a month or 2, at our discretion, we may still provide you the warranty support. Please remember to bring along your warranty card when you send the shoes back to your retailer.

The TropiCool glove is made of our proprietary GripSuede material on the palm and the QwikDry mesh knit material on the back, Both are easy care fabric requiring the usual basic care that you should always do the same for any glove. Always dry your glove after each use in normal room temperature. Many golfers simply hang their gloves on their bags Do not force dry the glove by placing it in direct sunlight. Once the glove has dried, always replace the glove into the packaging sleeve to help retain its shape and suppleness. You can also wash the glove following the washing instructions on the packaging. Always, you can extend the usual lifespan of your glove by rotating its use with another glove. Hope this helps.

It's always good to hear that our products are talked about. Yes, it is true that our SYNR-G shoes is the most stable shoe in the FJ shoe family. In a laboratory test using a machine that measures the sheer ground reaction force as a golfer takes his swing, the SYNR-G shoes has outperformed the FJ Icon in the area of stability through the swing. We consider the SYNR-G shoes the next best thing since the demise of the spiked golf shoes. The SYNR-G shoes have already recorded several wins this year since it's introduction in January. Players like Padraig Harrington, Steve Stricker, Zach Johnson, Jerry Kelley, Davis Love lll are just some of the more familiar names that have won this year using SYNR-G shoes. However having said all this, we can tell you that the FJ Icon remains the most preferred shoes among the top golf professionals on the all major Tours. Other than the exceptional quality of the material used, the traction and stability factor of the outsole is just marginally behind the SYNR-G shoes. Many of the professionals are also excited by the wide range of models we offer in this category ranging from traditional styles to contemporary looks. In addition, the FJ Icon provides great custom possibilities offered through our MyJoys program. This unique program allows these professionasl to build their own shoes according to their choice of colors and can include special logos or personalised monograms. Look out for the MyJoys program coming soon to SEA.

Acushnet folks, again, this might sound cliche but I like to give my personal thanks once again and show my appreciation for you joining us here on this board.

Now my question, I have honestly been very disappointed with golf shops here in Singapore that really do not offer as much variety and spread of shoes and sizes as like your website.

Could you kindly point me in a few direction which shops has the widest selection of shoes for us to try? Specifically, I am looking at the ICON shoes, I somewhat have a thing for shoes with nine or more spikes.

Hi Mr FJ,

For FJ gloves, what is the difference between US/European and Asian sizes? As in S to L vs 22 to 26, other than the cadet sizing available for US/European.

Thanks.

I already have 3 TropiCool in my bag cheers

In my opinion, these are the best in the market, given our tropical weather.

Apologies for this late reply. Always happy to help with questions on our products where we can.

On the matter of the variety of FJ shoe styles available in the shops of our retail partners, as much as we would like to agree with you, we feel that it may not be operationally viable to stock everything we have on our website. Our retail partners know the preferences of their customers which is determined by the location of their Pro Shops and we encourage them to stock what they feel will suit these customers' taste and buying budgets.

We prefer to refrain from making any suggestion on where you should go to shop for your FJs but our key retail partners (placed in alphabetical order) include Golf House, Golf & Leisure, MST Golf, Pan West, Transview and Vinc Golf. Happy shopping.

Apologies for this late reply. The main differences between the specs of the US/European and Asian FJ gloves lie in the width dimensions of the palm and the length of the fingers. You can visit the following link <http://www.footjoy.com/customerservice/gloves_fitting.asp> for more information. The use of Alphabets and Numbers to denote sizing is dependent on the preference of the market and what consumers there are used to. As an example, a Regular Fit size 24 corresponds to a Regular Fit size ML and there is no spec difference between both. The same applies to other sizes and also to gloves in Cadet fit. Hope this helps.

Hihi FJ,
I'll be making a trip to somewhere cool for golf, +/- 10 °C
Anywhere in SG where I can find WinterSof? If not, will I be able to find right-hand rain grip? So that can match with my left handed.. Prefer Size 23 and 24.

Thank You!!
