PostSubject: Difference between Mizuno MP 53 and MP 59   Mon Jul 16, 2012 5:42 pm

Hi fellow GRians, am pondering between the 2 sets of irons on NS Pro regular shaft as an upgrade and was wondering which is better.
Am hoping to get some opinions from current mizuno users.
I've been playing for abt a year with an old set of mizuno T-Zoid irons that I bought off a buddy of mine. I reckon it's time for an upgrade as am getting bored of them. Haha.
Any advice?

I had used MP63 previously and now MP59. It is the same mizuno feel, where the MP59 give a touch of more forgiveness especially on tight lies. Especially the long iron, which I hit better with MP59.

Personally I only play once on course with my friend's MP53 club. It is fitted with graphic shaft, so I can't really comment on the feel. On address, both MP59 and MP53 look similar.

Both are great irons...Can try them up at Golf house before commit.

I saw a Bro selling his MP53 in the marketplace..Can do a search.

I'm gaming the MP53 paired with SteelFiber i95, mid hcp player. Love the look at address and the buttery feel at contact

One of my regular kakis (low teens hcp) recently just switched to the MP53, paired with NSpro 950. looks like he is enjoying the irons too Beer

Another buddy of mine, single hcp, playing the MP59 with NSPro950. I think he can play anything, used to play blades, but he prefers the MP59

regardless if MP53 or MP59, these are relatively forgiving player's cavity irons. The keyword is 'relatively' because players like the look at address with a touch of forgiveness, unlike blade / muscle back irons. That said, ball striking has to be competent enough to play em.

Mizuno used to have the MX series of irons which are also forged (some models) and soft at impact. I used to play the MX900 series, really sweet and extra forgiveness that i needed then. The JPX series fills this void now.

You said you have been playing for 1 year, you will have to know your own game to decide whether if you are ready for the MP series of irons. Like the other bros suggested here, go hit both before deciding. While you are at it, also don't ignore the JPX models, you may be surprised. Good luck.

Agreed. I tried my khaki's MP 53, nice feel but you need a consistent swing to play well.

The 53/59 are more of a players irons. I'm still using my MX irons..maybe my skills is not there yet for the 53.

Guess I just want to play well and not look good on the course.

Cheers

Yeah i've heard plenty abt the JPX and would prolly give it a try. I suppose my primary concern is to pick a set of irons that can take me further in the game but not an overkill in time to come. I've heard from my friends tt the MP53 is very gd but compared to the latter, the MP59 can develop further into the game. Seems like sometimes it boils down to personal preference. Will deinitely give all the 3 models of irons a try.
Thanks again Lewis.

Totally agree with you. Am pretty much looking for a set of iroms that can develop me futher into the game. Not to look gd on the course.
