| Is there any difference between OEM vs After market if both shafts are same brand and model?
It appears that, there is two different school of thought on this:
1) they are same as both are manufactured same quality tolerance
2) After market shafts are superior to OEM, due to tighter quality control and better material used in manufacturing process.
For me first statement seem more valid as golf club manufacturer probably receives deep discount for bulk purchase... and shaft manufacturer would not use lower grade stuff for OEM because it will degrade brand value.
Any thought? Eqtrend

| There are "made for" shafts and there are "after market" shafts ... with a significant difference between the two ... needless to say , after market shafts are not only of higher quality but also designed with different specifications (weight, flex, kick, torque, etc) ... nowadays the trend is for more and more OEM's offering "after market" shafts with their driver heads , as an add-on or even no up charge at times ... this is why competition is great!
Just read your question again and you are probably referring to the difference between "after market shafts" vs "after market shafts that come with OEM drivers" ... I would like to believe if its the exact same shaft and advertised as such .. they should be identical! e.g. adams is openly advertising that they offer the after market fubuki alpha with their fast 12 driver .. and blatantly mention on their site its a $300 shaft. Should be the same quality , otherwise the market will be flooded with inferior fubuki alphas ... |

| I think have been discuss before. Try it to test it. Then you will see the difference. If you think like your first statement, only trying out can change your mindset. |

| Definitely there is a difference between "made for" and after market custom shafts Things like weight, torque, kick point may differ between the 2
If no difference, then why is there a market for custom shafts. Some custom shafts even cost more than the club!
If there a need to upgrade to custom shaft is another ques altogether - some do it because they can - some do it because they need - some do it because of herd syndrome - some do it because they want to
There are some good single hcp players still playing with stock shaft. So to each his own. |

| After doing bit of more reserch most "after market" OEM shaft labelled "made for so n so".
I understand these OEM shafts might be inferior to After market shaft.
But i was refering to manufactor such as Adam drivers. In this case both OEM n After market shaft should be same am i wrong ?
thx eqtrend

| after market shaft for me at least gives you a better feel and control (at least for me and my friends). My friend A got a stock tour ad shaft from his tour stage driver and fitted it to his R11 head, another friend B brought a after market tour AD DI from a fitter and fit it to his R11. Both give totally different results interms of distance and consistency. Initially i was not convinced but was quite certain aftermarket shaft gives better performance after seeing my friend B hit 220m when he usually hit 200m. While on the other hand friend A was gumbling how come his ball flight and distance not much different from his previous shaft....

| Of course there's a difference. Once u start using after mkt shaft, you find all the OEM shaft sucks..... |

| Hmmm
I do agree After market shaft tend to be better (consistency, dispersion etc.......) but I believe enwee statement is too generalized. I used to own TP R520 and that speeder shaft was just good as after market speeder... least for me

eh...if I remember correctly TP especially it's the 500 series the shaft is the same as the after mkt one, not OEM one. Because in the past, TM TP series the prices is so much higher than the normal one. |

| Custom fitting
1. makes an efficient swing more efficient.
2.increases the percentage play of a compensated swing- If fitted by a fitter who is of good repute. |

| Recieved my new Adams Super Hybrid SS with Matrix Ozik Program H7.1, sticker on the shaft says Head - MIC / Shaft - MIC / Assembled in China. Shaft colour & design scheme are identical to Program 95 (with no made for Adams Golf printed on the shaft). Note that the existing Matrix Ozik Program range do not include H7.1 or hybrid shaft.
Tested both 19 & 22 deg in R flex, shaft seems smooth but not as firm as compared to my existing Program 95 R flex for the irons. The distance for the 22 deg hybrid seems to be just slightly a tad longer than my #4 iron with a similar nice high flight with soft landing.
Stripped the shaft in the evening, the CPM stated on the butt reflects A flex (as compared to Matrix typical shaft flex rating) and does not have the HD design (16 hexadecagonal internal structured at the butt section - this can be viewed through the butt without grip) as printed on the shaft! The spine are installed 180 deg away, however the spine for both shafts are similar (with reference to the printed logo).
Tipped both shafts at 1/2" + butt extension, re-orientate spine 180 deg and re-gripped with my favourite GP Tour Wrap.
Conclusion, the OEM after market and after market shafts are definately different! Well, the shafts are still playable but let see how they perofrm after some minor tweaks.
Do you feel short changed by the OEM golf club manufacturer or Shaft manufacturer? |

| Price different between 2, thought its due to OEM order in bulk thats why it is cheaper. After market shaft taste better, because it is customize and fit??? |
