Dear Randall..

I face the same problem as you..

You are lucky, cos you don't need to pay for drinks, dinner and sometimes even breakfast for some guys in this forum after a game..

I asked my friends, they told me to go buy one 5kg dumbbell and carry at home..

So don't despair, there are many other sports like chess...

cheers

Hi Chien,

Thank god I don't usually need to pay for meals. Laughing

Don't think i need to buy the 5kg dumbbell as I workout 5 times a week. So I will skip that idea. I reckon for my case its the way my impact of the golf ball that don't create the top spin I looking for.

Good luck with your game!

Ps: Chess is too boring, maybe marble will be more exciting LOL

Hi Randall,

While an increase in distance and accuracy is something all golfers strive for, it is unlikely that we all suffer from the same issue, and thus a one size fits all solution of tip probably does not exist.

A young athletic guys just starting the game at hitting his driver 150m with a huge high push slice with need a different solution (for more distance) to an experienced or skilled golfer who has mysteriously lost his distance.

Perhaps you would like to share a bit about yourself so that the tips/advice/recommendations can be a bit more relevant to your issue.

E.g. How long have you been playing? Your current age? Skill level? Normal driving distance? Current driving distance? Driver you are using? What type of miss? Type of ball flight? .... etc etc etc

Hi Derek,

Thanks for sharing Laughing

I'm currently 30 and have been playing golf for 15 years, however my driver distant are getting shorter as time goes by. Current hcp is 7.5. I used to hit it 250m in my early golfing days but now barely hit 210m Sad I'm using a TM Burner 2.0 river, 9.5 degree loft. I hit the ball relatively straight but just lag of the distance.

Any recommendation? In fact, I'm thinking of taking up maybe 5 refresher lessons with some good teaching professional. Do you have any in mind?

Have a great week ahead! Smile

Perhaps other den a coach, you may like to consider seeing a fitter? From the way it sounded, you were hitting further before and now you are driving with too much spin. Could be due to your swing or perhaps your club or a combination of both.

Removing spin from driver imho, going to fitter is the easiest option. Correcting a wrong swing is of coz important, but perhaps your swing speed improved and your existing equipment may no longer be suitable and need some tweaks? From my limited experience, some drivers will not perform once your swing speed exceed certain club head speed, they tend to generate too much spin and that kills your distance. Also with increased clubbed speed, your shaft may not be stable enough and thus reduce your chances of contacting ball correctly.

Yes, no chess for me pls.. What a Face

Go for Tendy Tsai?

Two of his students are damn long hitters (Sham, Guy), Tendy himself won senior long drive tournament a while ago.

check his facebook and youtube channel, you can see if you like his methods. It shows the drills he give to his students

Hi Randall,

Sometimes it is both the arrow and the indian.

At your skill level, you would very likely benefit from both the refresher sessions (who knows, maybe some small bad habits might have crept in over the years) as well as visiting a good fitter to see why you have lost the 40m.

As for which professional, sorry mate, can't help you there, maybe the others here know of a coach that specialises in helping skilled golfers increase their driving distance.

Lol this solution only works for someone like me sit in office 15 hours a day and can only use lady flex to drive 150m, not fit the TS's need.

I used to drive with a burner 2.0 driver and I had to change it coz it generated too much spin. I got several pros to test my burner and the stronger players hit even shorter distance than me. Spin recorded on launch monitor was as high as 8k! Rolling Eyes

you can also try working out for flexibility if you have not done so. i also used to drive much further 10 years ago but a recent session with a gym trainer revealed how inflexible i was. When coiled correctly (ie. without the right leg straightening out), i was nowhere near a 90 degree shoulder turn.

Hi Randall ... after 15 yrs of golf and and a highly impressive handicap of 7.5 ... my assessment is (and I could be wrong) ... that your knowledge of the golf swing has not kept up with the advancement in your game. Sure, we have coaches to guide us, and play golf socially, but nevertheless I firmly believe that we must enhance our knowledge in order to constantly improve ... this forum , some other US based forums, the web, books and publications like even Golf Digest have loads of information (not always accurate) but usually helpful ...

This post of yours is a great step in the right direction ... and I'm sure u'll be back to driving 250m in no time at all !!! Beer

Heres a good place to start ... nobody drives the ball with topspin ... intentionally at least ... the ball spins around a tilted axis ... effectively part backspin , and part sidespin ... but around a single axis. I guess if you top the ball it could generate top spin but nobody wants that kind of a mishit.

hey there.

Basically you should generate a bit more lag on your downswing and depends on the lateral movement of your body.

Also its quite hard to decipher what's the problem cause everyone has different physique and swing.

If you're free you could head down to OCC and i can give you a couple of drills and mechanics to work on during my free time.

always glad to help.

I got the same problem as yours.
I have lost 30-40M too.
I found out that my backswing has been lesser and swinging too easy.
