PostSubject: HELP   Tue Jul 31, 2012 12:13 am

HELP.

I've been playing golf consistenly for almost a year? I have no problems with my approach wedge and sand wedge and my irons are really consistent , 6iron was going 150 7iron was going 130 , but one really big problem is i am unable to launch my PW of my G15 iron sets. The sole of the it is really thick and the furthest was nowhere near a 100m Swing Ping Golf scratch scratch scratch

Is there anyway? or any advice? Or i was thinking of buying another 48'degree wedge , any recommendations?

THANKS! Cheers Jump New here

if your distance gaps between your clubs are consistently 20m (based on your 6i and 7i) then 90m for your pw should be right. why worry about getting it over 100m?

How about bringing the club to the PING authorised fitter (found at various ranges eg Punggol, Bukit Batok) and seek their expert advice

I cant even bring it 50m , let alone 90 man. Maybe because of the wide sole ,unable to launch it at all..

a wide sole's supposed to launch the ball high. most probably the wide sole is screwing with your mind and affecting your ability to hit it, which is pretty normal- some clubs just look wrong to some people. if you're able to hit your other irons then maybe it just takes a while to build some confidence with your PW, otherwise, as you said..go get yourself a individual wedge to replace it!

But your whole set of irons is the same model right with wide sole right? I don't think there is anything wrong with your clubs. Probably it is because of your swing?

PW should be a 48 degree. so yeah Titleist 48 SM4 with bigger number bounce would 'cut' the ground better

or just get any 48 and bend 1 to 2 degree but again that would affect your bounce depending you deloft/loft it

that's right depending on the manufacturer would differ, like I know yamaha 'steal' their degree and use this to their marketing thinking that your 6 irons on yamaha hits further than 6 irons on ping. best way is to look through their website and see how many degree is their stock clubs

but you can always bend the degree!

Wider sole clubs like G15 actually helps in preventing the golfer from "digging"into the ground and promotes a more "sweeping"type of swing. those thinner sole clubs which are usually marketed as Game improvement or player club, cos the golfer usually are able to contact the ball better.

However, base on PW hitting less then 100m, many factors come into play , eg, are you hitting the back of the ball, topping the ball, swing speed, etc....

base on ngjw89's remark, he /she is correct given the distance gap between the 6i and 7i. if you are hitting more then 100m with PW, then something is really wrong...
