PostSubject: #3 hybrid vs #5 Wood   Tue Sep 04, 2012 1:33 pm

Seeking for advice here. i found my #3 hybrid and #5 wood give me same distance, typically around 170m. Is this normal? Question
Or should #5 wood suppose to deliver more distance than #3 hybrid? Shocked
Thought to change my #5 wood to #3 wood, but i believe its my swing problem, #5 wood should able to go farther.

Just need some advice from bro here before put more investment into unnecessary club. bounce Laughing

p/s: For reference, my 7 iron normally give me aro 130m.

5 wood typically longer than 3 hybrid by 2 inches. (loft about the same, 18, 19 degrees)

should be longer, but that depends on how well you hit it..ie smash factor.

try a 3 wood first loh.. see if can give you more distance... but 3 wood harder to launch due to the loft.

hey bro, i assume ur #3 hybrid and 5 wood have same loft? eg 18 degree?

i don't think it's uncommon. My 5 wood (cobra baffler rail) also goes around the same distance as my 3 hybrid (ping g10). Assuming that loft is the same, the longer shaft of the 5 wood is supposed to give longer distance. However, fairway woods are usually designed to give more launch as compared to hybrids (by having a bigger head, with CG placed further back). As such, whilst the shaft is longer, the launch angle may in fact be higher. The outcome for me is that my 5 wood carries longer than my 3 hybrid, but rolls less, therefore resulting in similar distance.

It is for this reason that I've taken out my 5 wood from my bag. Esp since i hit my 3 hybrid more consistently

Anyway i can let you try my woods and u can gauge for yourself. Not nikes though....

I always thought #3 hybrid is around 20-21*

It's the #2 which is 18-19*

Techno is right.. for Nike .. its 21 degrees for a 3 hybrid..

i was confused with a rocketballz 3 hybrid.. (thats 19 degrees)
which explains why it longer.. Smile

Slowly.... replaced my (3W and 5W) woods with hybrids...
used to play with rescue mid 5 (25*) and carry a rescue mid 3 (19*) but can only launch the 25*... slowly progressing to rescue mid 4 (22*), rescue mid 3 (19*) and now testing out rescue mid 2 (16*)...

I'm worse.. My 4H same distance as my 5FW. Therefore, I usually use my 4H as its successful launch rate and accuracy is higher den my 5FW. Easier to have good contact with the hybrid, control is better as well. FW if I'm not wrong is suppose to have lower spin and better roll.. but for my case, if I shoot a low shot with my 4H.. it seems to roll further. scratch
