heyhey TiVi welcome welcome welcome to the Republic and to this v v addictive game! generally most beginners use game improvement (GI) cavity backs (CB) as they are most forgiving and compensates somewat for our not too accurate swings... maybe u can check with your coach or visit a secondhand shop like Creative Joe's who will prob hv a few decent sets on sale... Golf Direct also has some iron sets on discount near ur budget price esp the past seasons set which are equally good ...

If you are thinking of big name likel titleist, TM, Callaway etc, go to their demo day.

Welcome! I bought my beginner irons from Creative Joe. You can go to his website (http://www.creativegolf.net/main.asp) to take a look at what's available and search online for reviews to see which are the sets suitable for beginners then go to his shop to take a look. BTW, his website doesn't show the price.

Welcome ! Golfing is really an additive game and I'm sure you will enjoy it.. I've picked up this sports 2 months ago and have been practicing at least 4 times a week at range ever since !! am still learning with coach and other bros !

I faced exactly the same issue when I started... in fact, much more... which clubs to buy, which driver, hybrid or woods, even to which flex of shaft to use..... and many more.. I am rather lucky to have friends around me who owns a few sets of golfs and I borrowed to try... Alot of people reccomended me to head to demo day and try.. or some shops have demo clubs for you to whack as well ! BUT !! back at the begnining of starting this sport, I was just too shy and have totally no confident to try... when asked to try the demo clubs, i simply didn't try...

There are really too many brands to choose from. For me, I chose a cavity back irons. They are forgiving ! there are irons around that suits your budget (BRAND NEW)... if i remember correctly, taylormade burner irons at golf direct is retailing about 500 ? taylormade, ping, callaway, etc.... many many many brands !! Look out at the marketplace too ! U can find great deals!

Enjoy this sport bro !!

Just a 2cent opinion Smile Cheers !

Welcome... enjoy the learning process and the game...

Don't rush into purchasing clubs first (i know it's hard and I'm guilty of that... hahahah)... you'll need to see if you are more suited for regular or stiff shaft, graphite or steel shaft, game improvement or super game improvements irons (or blades if you like challenge)... and many more other minor stuff....
