Hi Slicer,

My golfing experience... took the beginner course and got PC twice, once was about 5 years ago (but didnt continue beyond that), did that again about half a year ago and collecting scorecards to get my HCP now.

Super inconsistent... still trying to find my swing (esp backswing and at impact), hitting slices 80% of the time and topping the ball 19% of the time, that occasional 1% can drive about 200, 4H about 160, 7i about 120-130.

1st 2 games at Palms Spring were 109 and 107 respectively, 3rd game at MBGC was a disastrous 130.

Since then back to Swingbyte, video and driving range.

Have changed to iron shaft irons to slow down my swing, getting used to the heavier weight but definitely better feel.

Will remove 1D, 3W, 5W when I hit the course.

Welcome to GR, TKK.
Interesting, I have a very similar golf journey as you, got Pc, then stopped for years, then go get a PC again, now trying to collect HCP cards, and trying to break 100.
Hope to meet you soon.

Thanks for sharing. Please be patience as every golfer gone through the same situation as you. If I may, if you want to spend money on thing like swingbyte, swing aid, dvd ... etc. I would suggest that you spend the money on a coach.

Just take up one hour lesson and have the coach look into your swing. Understand the reason why you sliced and top in high %. If you think that you do understand all reason now, which I am doubt. You do not need all those training aid.

Send your money wisely, once you know how to train not to sliced or top the ball and practiced hard in correcting your swing. This will lead you to correct the rest of your swing like address, takeaway, downswing, impact, follow through, weight transfer ..etc

Even the best player still need to see a coach to fine tune his swing when his swinging like shit suddenly.

Let discuss about equipment when you are ready. I am sure many bro herecan help you with that. You are carrying 4 iron & all woods (excluding driver). Can you hit them ?

Learn to enjoy the proceed and soon you be a good player and challenge all the buaya here Laughing

Yup, I understand that I'm not ready for all the clubs. I bought the clubs (all pre-owned) when I started picking it up half a year ago (was too carried away buying on ebay).

Right now, I'm only practising with 7i and PW when I go to the range.

Will try to see if video (free iPad app) can help improve before I seek help from a coach (private lessons are expensive).
Till now, besides the irons, I only used the 4H, 7W and D. The rest are just sitting in my bag waiting to be used.

Thanks for your advice!

Yup. I mostly use 7i, 8i, 9i, PW, SW, 4H and D, only sometimes 6i.

Bought too many too soon. Thankfully, all pre-owned, not so painful.

Depend on which course you play. I do switch clubs. If cow grass and hilly course, more iron than hybrid. Long course more woods and hybrid. Short course more wedges.
