Wondering which is the closest golf club that we can play?

I think most of them are 1.5 hours away from downtown Hanoi.

And I saw one that's closer but it's for members only.

And also, I assume in winter, it gets dark early... so by 5pm, if not later, we won't be able to see our balls Smile

Yes, All courses are about 1.5-2hrs our of the capital. and yes it gets dark early. but now is still ok. can play till about 6pm.

Please do take note, clubs in Hanoi are very very particular number of players per flight. especially on Fridays - Sundays.

I just got back from Hanoi and played at Chi Linh Star Golf & Country Club. We used our local (SG) travel agent who arranged for our company incentive trip and paid something like S$20 more each, than the local agent. We paid about S$225/pax.

We found a local tour (phiviethanh@salutevietnam.com) who you can contact as well. They can arrange for pick-up, etc.

The golf course is almost 2 hours from Hanoi - along the way to Halong Bay. It's a very beautiful course, well kept. Lots of rolling hills and huge lakes and waterways. There are three 9-hole courses there. We enjoyed playing there. Weather was good- very windy when you are the top of the hills or by the lakes.

The greens are mostly very tiny so you must be fairly accurate. Some are the size of the new condo bedrooms!

There were three of us- two guys and a lady so we decided to walk. Buggy costs U$33/each and useless as many of those in front were walking as well. So it won't help speed up our game.

Some of the blue tees are like 10M up the hill and about 100M back so be prepared to walk. Stretch your leg and calf muscles too, not just your arm and body, etc.

The locker room though was something else. Smells funny. Lockers don't look safe so please leave your valuables in the hotel instead.

Overall- if got chance, will want to go back there to attack the 3rd 9-hole. And other golf clubs too.

The last time I was in Hanoi, I was riding around in the country side.

Time was about 7 in the morning, and there was a gentle mist hanging around.

Past a corner, and stumbled upon an area with several limestone rocks/mountains on both my left and right. Between the limestones was the greenest grass and trees.

With the morning sun and yet cooling climate, I thought that I had found some sort of natural paradise.

Was admiring the view, until I realized that palm trees should not belong in this picture. It was then that I saw the signboard for 'Phoenix Golf Resort'.

If I ever play in Vietnam, I'd be going there for sure. True story.

Just finish a golf game in Hanoi Heron Lake golf course abt 30min from Noibai airport. Set off 7am in the morning from City of Hanoi, take about 1.5hrs to the golf course and check in to airport after the game. Perfect timing for 6pm flight back to Singapore.

Beautiful course, peaceful environment. Highly recomand.

Damage: US$75 green+caddy/pax. Walking
Transport: US$100/van
