hi Jaketang, there are 3 bike shops at Midview City (where Golf Direct is, but the bike shops there i feel is abit high priced) and like the one iron eagle mentioned, RodaLink has good stuff....

You can also check out this www.togoparts.com to do more research on bicycles. I was told by a colleague who is an enthusiast that getting a good brand 2nd hand MT bikes like scott, trek, cbroadman or giant may be better off if wanna go for long time hobby use.......
...but in the end i chose golf as a hobby...lol

Anyway, since you're on the topic of bicycles...dont mind if i tompang your thread to ask if any guys here knows where to get "Balance Bikes" for toddlers? (I checked out the ones at Midview City...prices are not toddler friendly..hehee)

There is also a category called Hybrid. In between a road bike and mtb

Like golf equipment, you pay for what you get

You can buy a used good bike or a new So-so bike for your budget

It's true, you pay for what you get.

The handling of a branded bike is so much better than a so-so bike, because the mountain bike is built for trail usage, so it need to withstand abuse.
The components and the parts is important too, high end parts will ensure fast and smooth shifting of gears. That's why bikers always paid more to change high end components.

Good branded bike will last a long way because of the frame technology.

I picked up my Scott Aspect MTB second hand for 500. Good buy. Check out togoparts. They've got a forum where people sell bikes and accessories etc Smile

Sad to hear that.

Must be careful when buying from forum. Hard to check whether is it a stolen bike.

You should post in Togoparts a photo of your stolen bike, so that buyers are aware of that model.
And the thief can't sell through forum.

With all the construction around my place pretty safe to bet where it went....

Went to police post 4 times but is always closed, lucky is not an urgent crime.

I guess it depends on ur budget on what brand u r looking for. Not sure about mountain or foldable bikes. Togoparts.com got alot of used bikes worth checking out.

Rodalink carries mostly colnago, T3 carries Trek, Cycleworks carries Pinarello.

I've kinda given up cycling so abit outta touch.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who's looking to get a full carbon road bike, I'm selling my Specialized Tarmac. Full ultegra parts with zipp 303 wheels. Wheels alone cost $3k. But selling off whole bike for less than 2k. PM me for more details. Smile

wow thanks fr the replies fellas....
din know there's so many bikes fanatics here... lol

basically i m getting a bike for 2 purpose

1) to use for ta-paoing (buy take away food) near my place where it is too far to walk n too short to drive... lol since i m doing lots of tp-ing now n the near future..

2) for causal riding at east coast.. (hopefully it's a regular thingy since i cant jog now...my knees cant take the impact from running)

i will go thru all the suggestion and hopefully get a decent enuff bike..

Thanks!!!!

Eh jake, I also bought a bike, similar reasons, my knees giving way for high impact sports. Went crazy, upgrade carbon drop bar, bought few jerseys with matching colour helmet, shoes...

Long story short, I fell couple of times (too dumb to remove my foot from the cleat in time)
Now it's a bit of a white elephant.

So go easy, don't go crazy if I can advise. Bet yourself a 2 wheeler and see if the cycling bug bites. Foldie can also go very fast, don't think of it as Mickey mouse bike. It's all the components
And foldie also can serve the function for you to run errands, save space to keep. Except I'm not sure if you an get a left handed version tongue

@ all, have a mtb and a roadie, stay near ecp, can pm me if wanna plan for a ride.
@ pocketace, reminded me that I had my share of falling due to the clip padel during the time when I just switched to road bike. Smile
@ Jake, go check out the bike from bike shop, think a foldie will suit your needs. then check out from togoparts.com forumn on any good deals. like golf equipment, there are people who let go of their toy / tool for various reasons.
