PostSubject: Fortunate Situation - TM R11 vs RBZ Driver   Thu Nov 29, 2012 10:25 pm

Hi All,

I'm a relatively new golfer and I came into a fortunate situation where I have two new drivers:

a) I bought an R11 9 degree Asian Spec, Stiff Shaft from the TM Staff Sale Last Nov 22.
b) I won an RBZ 10.5, Asian Spec, Regular Shaft (RB-50) from a new website's Lucky Draw, which I only found out Nov 28 (winning mail announcement was Nov 21 but went to my spam folder together with other 'winning' emails).

I already opened the R11 and used it in the range so it's already considered used. It took me a while to get the hang of it (200 balls) but I found the tuning that gives me the drives I want. Receipt is still with me for warranty (I assume there's one).

My RBZ is still sealed in plastic with all materials...and the warranty card is filled up in my name and mailed by the website's promoter.

I don't intend to keep both so I have to make a call which one to dispose of and If its the RBZ, I prefer to sell it new. Watch out for drivers being placed on sale soon Smile

For those who have experience with both models, which one do you like better or you think is suitable for a newbie with a relatively fast club head speed (the last time I measured, its around 85mph to 90mph). Appreciate your throughts. Thanks!

You lucky guy!

If I'm in your shoes- sell the RBZ cos you did choose the R11. And you're already familiar with it.

If you are not so skilled, consider the RBZ as it is more forgiving & lighter ... Both are good drivers and it is the Red Indian that matters IMHO. Taylormade

RBZ is more forgiving, but R11 is not difficult to hit either. Also note that the shafts are quite different in that one is R and one is S.

One way is to put both up for sale and see which one sells first

RBZ if you like a shallower face, R11 if you like a deeper face. For a former R9 Supertri user like me, I do miss the configurability of the R11, where I can alter the swing weight on the fly. Moving to the RBZ, i can only alter the swing weight by either sticking lead tape (damn ugly la) or changing grips. But I can say that the RBZ is the real deal when it comes to distance.

HI guys,

recently i saw my friend trying the RBZ 9.5...previously he was using the G20...however his distance of each drive is the same. Able to advise why is that i hear a lot of pple saying the RBZ is able to give more distance??

Might be the face. It sounds so much louder than my old supertri R9, and feels harder on impact, too. Who knows? Maybe it's a placebo effect, if TM says it's 17 yards longer, it must be 17 yards longer, so I hit harder subconsciously? Swing faster? Self fulfilling prophecy or self fulfilling technology. You guys decide. At the moment, I am still struggling with the lighter swing weight since I am used to hitting D3, but when I hit it sweet, hawwwt daammn!

Possibly cos the g20 is a very good driver?

The R11s impact sound is also very loud but I feel shiok wherever I hit the sweet/hot spot ... Razz

I have tried my friend RBZ. I prefer the R11s feel plus the latter gives me longer distance ...

TM driver rocks, man!

Thanks all! I went down to the TM shop yesterday at Cathay and used their RBZ demo unit. It was easy to swing but I couldn't appreciate it as much.

This Dec 5, TM has a Demo Day at MBGC from 630pm to 930pm. I will go down and try out the units they have and decide from there.

Dun take this the wrong way, I agree with Slinger and I do not see why is it having two TM drivers will put anyone in a fortunate situation.. at the rate they depreciate, its not funny...really.

If you ask me, I will rather sell them both and get a new Ping G20 driver at 380 bucks from custom golf sale.

One would never go wrong investing in a TM driver especially for not so skillful golfers ... Even tour PRO like Luke Donald, Jim Furyk, Paddy Harrington, Phil Mickelson, etc. are using TM drivers and/or FW even though they endorse different brands ...

Thanks Begbie. If I paid for two, I'll agree that it's a bad situation given depreciation/utilization.

I just see myself fortunate that I only paid for one at a big discount and won another one. I now have a choice to decide which one I will keep and disposing the other will zero out or significantly reduce the initial investment made.
