USA is facing problem with figuring out how to tax the wealthy.....and imagine this, in SG, we don need to worrk about that.....the wealthy are already indirectly tax....

I actually agree... I do realize the roads are getting very crowded, it's jam everywhere.. ERPs are not working for sure.. So the question is whether higher COEs are able to control the cars population? |

| @blee
bought a new Honda CRZ for myself and a new 1000cc car for my wife ...
On the road (incl insurance, full options and road tax) for both cars less than 65K SGD total ... which I think can't even buy a COE in Singapore
And the traffic (at least during peak hours) seems equally bad in both places ...
so all in all ... I am pretty happy to have left _________________ ======================================== What's in the Bag

Dunno whether its true but look at the pocket rockets on the road now. I think they are the ones spoiling the market now. Gone were the days that supercharged and turbo engine are garage experiments in jb workshops. Now we have VW mass producing them...sighs |

| The golf bag fits comfortably ... it is just that my car is now permanently a 2-seater ... not a 2+2 anymore ... I push the back seat down and treat the whole thing as a boot
When I have people to ferry around ... I just use my wife's car ... 4 doors with 4 seats
However, gone are the days I could take 4 pax and 4 golf bags to go golfing in my Toyota Altis _________________ ======================================== What's in the Bag

| Traffic in KL is NOTHING like traffic in SG.
I swear, there are times when I wished that the M'sian govt. imposed a similar regime in Malaysia. It's complete gridlock all over the damn place and getting from Damansara Utama to SS2 (which, for those of you who know, should take no more than 10 minutes) can take 30-45 minutes.
Like it or not, I don't see the COE approach going away any time soon. What I can say is that buy a car when you need it. Don't wait to buy based on the COE. If it drops, it's a bonus. If it doesn't, that's the way things work. _________________ Clearing my Storeroom of golfing goodies. There are numerous indirect tax burdens, be it on the wealthy or the poor, which the government levies on us. I think what matters more is the distribution of wealth, as well as income equality, to really gauge the true impact on society. $100K to a billionaire is different from $100K to a young family with kids who really needs the car for transport purposes but can't afford it. |

Master, what is the COE for the tank which ferries you around? _________________ Clearing my Storeroom of golfing goodies. Please help support " A ball will always come to rest halfway down a hill, unless there is sand or water at the bottom." Henry Beard |
