Hi,

For right handed golfer, your left grip, is your thumb fully extended straight along the club as in 12" o'clock or slightly at 1 o'clock with a shortened thumb stretch?

Wouldn't a deliberate shorten left thumb obstruct the hinge during the up-swing?

For a right hander....

Extending the left thumb down the grip will tighten your forearm and wrist muscles, therefore the hinge is restricted.

Having a short thumb will help improve wrist angles and the hinge in the backswing.

Remember - Loose muscles will always work faster than tense muscles.

Hey Matt, is the shortened left thumb you mention above be at about 11 o clock position if referring to Jason's original post?

does grip size affect the thumb position.. on some grips, i find shorter thumb extension is more comfortable than the other and vice versa

You should try and fit the thumb just right of centre of the grip.
