 Left hand grip with long thumb or short thumb?

Hi,

For right handed golfer, your left grip, is your thumb fully extended straight along the club as in 12" o'clock or slightly at 1 o'clock with a shortened thumb stretch?

Wouldn't a deliberate shorten left thumb obstruct the hinge during the up-swing?

For a right hander....

Extending the left thumb down the grip will tighten your forearm and wrist muscles, therefore the hinge is restricted.

Having a short thumb will help improve wrist angles and the hinge in the backswing.

Remember - Loose muscles will always work faster than tense muscles.

Hey Matt, is the shortened left thumb you mention above be at about 11 o clock position if referring to Jason's original post?

does grip size affect the thumb position.. on some grips, i find shorter thumb extension is more comfortable than the other and vice versa

You should try and fit the thumb just right of centre of the grip.
