Look guys. We can certainly disagree on the pricing. No problems with that. I recognise there are cheapos out there. So where would you think is the price point such that a facility like that will keep the ping pong cheapos out?

Just wanted to have a feel what you would pay for a facility like that.

I have about $200 worth of credit for the range balls with the grass on range .
Can I still make use of it.
Is my PIN number still usable.

Would the management of All Star Golf Range advise whether the credit balance for the range balls under Range on Grass can be used.

Appreciate your reply as I am sure many forumers have credit balances and would also be interested to know.

Thanks.

no disagreement necessary...

i personally would pay $1000 for a year of usage and 50 cents per pro v1 ball

golf is an expensive sport... its not for "the masses"

same concept with iron covers...

if its dinged, BUY A NEW SET!

my guess is with such premium charges you will take hitting every ball seriously.
Not a bad thing i see, otherwise most time just hit without much thoughts to it.
For sure will go try but not very often as the rates are pretty prohibitive. most likely will use them to dial in iron shots and take every hit very seriously. cheers!

The bermuda grass, the pro V1 all cost money.. maintenance of the "fairway" is very expensive, hence justifying the VIP rates.
its the same every where.. high rollers at casino gets VIP treatment.. the rest please go squeeze at the 50 dollar min bet table...

PS: i am one those that squeeze at the 50 dollar table ones.. Smile

I have never accepted the view that Golf should only be an elitist sport available only to the financially privileged.  Picking up this game changed my life for the better (drank less alcohol, learnt how to control my emotions better, exercised more regularly, kept less late nights, improved discipline ... etc etc) so I really wanted to help bring the game to more people.  Especially kids who might not have been able to be exposed to this otherwise ... however, perhaps there was a slight mismatch between the direction I sought to pursue and the direction the company wanted to pursue ... in any case I digress

However, as many others have rightly put it, Golf is an expensive sport.  Although it is more affordable now compared to 20-30 years ago (relative to median income levels), it will never be considered a cheap sport in land scarce Singapore.  While we may want everything top class at subsidized prices, the reality is that unless the venture is commercially viable for the operator over the long term, the service/product is not going to be available.

I salute All Star Golf Range for having the guts to have a concept and build a commercial reality around it.  A Bermuda Grass range using ProV1 balls is PREMIUM.  The operating costs are high, and the pricing will have to sustain it.  In perspective, where else can you get such an experience, buy membership at Sentosa? I don't recall being given ProV1s to use at the range on the few occasions I was lucky enough to be invited to play there.

While I will always champion golf for the masses, it does not mean that all product offerings must be priced to the masses.  Take football, a sport for the masses ... playing at your void deck is free, costs a bit more to book a school pitch ... but booking national stadium for your friendly football game is definitely considered .... PREMIUM

For those that can afford PREMIUM on a frequent basis, enjoy and appreciate (with grace) that you are in place many would like to be in.

For the rest, it makes the visit to such a facility something to look forward to.  Previously, even if we were willing to pay, there was no such facility available.  You can work on techniques on your normal ranges and once every week(or fortnight or month) reward yourself with a visit to a premium grass range.  The pricing actually works in your favour in the sense that you may find yourself feeling a sense of anxiety about not "wasting" that ball, which mimics what is felt on the course.

As for the prices, having not been to the premises and having to rely of photos, if the grass is that pristine and the ProV1s are relatively new (and authentic) each time, I would say the prices are very fair and I hope to visit it when I travel back to Singapore.

I guess it's only in Singapore we get this feel. No wonder we never get world beaters like the Korean or Thai.

There's no more ASII. If you have remaining credits from before, u still can use at AS until end Dec being a non member. Though I m not sure for new sign-ups if u r required to be a member.

You mean no more as being folded? I haven't being there there for quite a while.
Guess my remaining credits goes up in smoke.

Thanks for the head-up, smokey.
