Looking for a forgiving driver, had narrow down to these 2. Need good advise of the pros/cons ? Am aware R11J is with all the adjust-ability and newer than G20; knowing G25 is launching soon with the adjust-ability.

Am a rather beginner and I think I prefer lighter in Weight and forgiving. Test swing, yet to hit any but currently had a received liking of the G20. And somehow not so keen on the G25.

Bro,

don't mind me asking, what are u using now?
What's the prob with the current driver?
How far are you hitting with your current driver?
Changing cuz u want more distance or because you are missing fairways or u just want something new?

G20 is not exactly lighter. It's in fact heavier than it's predecessor G15.

Have you tried the Anser?

Tks for asking. Am Hving this XLS Monster but always struggling with it, so very seldom use in Green. Often topping the ball or hitting the ground.... I guess it is my beginner Bad swing and I suspect biggest fault of mine is looking up too fast. Am also battling Slicing issue but recently getting less occurrence liao.

Usually would tee off with my 2 woods, on good feel contact can manage abt 200 meters there abt.

Bro, U r right. Recently I also realised G20 is not exactly light in weight but some how when I swing it, it felt as light or easy to swing as the R11J (Burner 2.0 is lightest but the shaft is long which I am uncomfortable with). I read abt it is the high balance pt of the stock shaft that help the swing to feel light.

No, I had yet to tried the Anser.

Bro the XLS Monster is a nice driver with huge face and very forgiving.
But it's loud and the head shape can be a distraction

Only have to note that if its stock shaft, it's a bit longer than normal so u might have to choke down an inch or so.
Also resist the urge to kill the ball when u take a swing , take it a easy swing and see how it goes.
If you can connect on this it's going further than your 3 wood distance
If you can hit this before getting the G20 or R11S.

But if you want to buy something new, I would prefer the R11S/J
If you get it from GD you have more than left over for more games.

Enjoy!

G20 is forgiving, not a demanding driver. Not the longest among mainstream drivers but quite accurate.

Wow that's my best shot on my driver to get to 200! How I wish I am longer... Ha ha ha

I also find the XLS monster too loud with distracting head shape. Maybe as U mentioned, I may be struggling with longer shaft length, coupled with I looking up to early. My 2 Wood is abt 2 to 3 inhes shorter than this driver. Tks for Ur good advise, and will practice more.

BTW, Ping@Punggol is having a sale to clear their G20s. You might want to pop by for a look. Guess they are preparing to stock G25s.

i have not tried the G20 before...

i did tried the R11S shafted with graman 5 series stiff... it was good.. solid feel.. btw, am using RBZ driver 9.5* shafted with bassara W series... excellent too!

But overall for a driver.. i feel the shaft plays a more important role than the head itself..

just my 2cents. Cheers!

I've tried the G20 during a fitting session. Did not buy in the end tho was very tempted. Very forgiving driver. Great flight, trajectory & very impressive distance. Only complaint was that the feel at impact felt too mushy for my taste. Couldn't tell if the contact was solid or not as bad hits felt as good as centre hits.

Only hit the r11s a couple of times. But didn't have the chance to compare with the G20 side by side. Contact felt more solid to me. however, it seems to me that the r11j is a re-badged r11.

So in the end, not sure whether this is helpful to you. In any case, better to try both drivers yourself whenever possible & draw your own conclusions.

Tks for the info. I happen to try both at a indoor "range". Personally, maybe is my beginner swing couple with a few bad habit which I am trying to cure, I seem to be struggling with the R11J. I seem unable to square it at impact, ball flight off slight right side. Although I am aware of the adjustablility of R11J but as of now am not a keen fan the adjustability as deem to complicated for me. TM salesman told me this R11 series is more suitable for better experienced golfer , comparing to the Burner 2.0. Btw I read some wher R11J was cater for Jap market and is slight Ligther than R11S which had the same head volume, whereas R11 had smaller head's volume.

On the contrary of your mentioned, I personally feel more comfortable of the impact sound/feel of G20, which is softer as compare with the R11J harder or more solid feel/sound. I can "feel" the G20 head during the swing more, and I was told of it toe's weight.

With all the good advise and info recieved here... I guess I will have work to improve my swing fundamental via muscle memory and awareness, and continue to use my wood 2 to tee off at green.

If the choice was only between the 2, I would go with the G20. For me, the overall dispersion was much better, i.e. bad shots were not as bad.

However, why limit to just these 2? There are many good drivers out there. Give a couple of the Cleveland models a try, you might be pleasantly surprised.

A little about me first, I'm turning 16 this year, 65kg about 1.7m tall... Swing speed about 105mph, classic in to out swing with a nice subtle draw.

I've been gaming the R11J SR flex stock shaft for about 4 months now, its worked beautifully for me. The feel is good, easy to control but it might be a little on the light side since its asian spec-ed. however, you lose the ability to tune weights so the club is going to be permanently draw biased. Off center hits usually still end up going relatively straight with a slight loss of distance, centered hits have a very penetrating ball flight and a good amount of spin at about 2400rpm or so. Try them for yourself, what works for me might not for you.
