Tiger just short of the green at the par 3 hole 16.

Would be interesting what Tiger does with the tee shot at holes 17 and 18, after that hook on 15.

Tiger, hole 17, hits it 216yds to Right Fairway, 231yds to hole. So looks like he indeed chose to be conservative and did not hit driver. His average driving distance today is 292 yards. No need to tempt that hook again.

This is so exciting, interesting to see his approach to hole 18.

Tiger bogeys 17, lead cut to 4 at -13 but the point is moot already, with the 2nd to last group has finished and the nearest player still playing in his group is at -6.

Hole 18 par 5, Tiger is on the fairway after his 2nd shot, with an approach of 120 yards left.

120 yards left to his first win for the year.

Apparently it's taken 4 hours to play 11 holes. TV coverage time ran out.

The approach hits the green and leaves 23ft 9in to hole.

A simple 2-putt par will seal it with a margin of 4.

Tiger wins his first tournament for the year. Bids well for the year, not so well for his competitors.

"A tap-in for par after his playing partners hole out and Tiger Woods is the 2013 Farmers Insurance Open champion at Torrey Pines, where he has now won eight times counting the 2008 U.S. Open. The win comes in Woods' season debut on the PGA TOUR and puts him eight wins shy of Sam Snead's all-time total."

Well, a new record was indeed created.

Counting his US Open win here, Tiger Woods became the first PGA TOUR player to win eight times on a single course.

Check out how confident the crowd is and how closely they crowd around Tiger's escape shot in this video.

And if Tiger's did not hit the flag after that it would have been a solid birdie.

Greenside bunker shot, with no stance, green sloping away from him, no problem.

Vintage Tiger.

And funny how Feherty complains about not getting enough credit for calling it.

Just classic.

Nope, but he cut the point gap by around half.

And most welcome.

The way he played the last few holes ... Still choking ... But with a couple more wins hopefully he will start to regain that killer instinct down the stretch.

Great to see Tiger winning so early in the year!
