This is pretty cool! But I echo Bro Chien's questions as well - is it only weekends and Msia courses only?

Would love to join, but weekends are kiddy / family time. Local course on a Friday would be optimal.

I do understand the constraints of organizing though. If I can't get to join the league, would still like to wish you every success in growing the league

Yea, its mostly Malaysia cos many of us don't have handicap... There are both weekday and weekend games to accomodate the working and those who need weekend family time...

Hi guangzhao, would you consider Friday games at MBGC sometime in the future? (I think we played one night game together, yes? :-)

I'm sure you're aware of the swing test requirement at MBGC, but not many people know that if you're a student from Star Golf @ MBGC, the swing test requirement is waived.

I'm just bringing this up since you mentioned most in the league have no handicap, and so by inference they may be considering lessons to improve their game :-)

Hi to all,

Games are arranged to be of the same course for the bi-monthly fixtures....for example, currently, we have a fixture starting this coming week, 19/2, 22/2 and 23/2.....all on the same course at Puteri...

This is really nice...but since I don't have a facebook account, can't go in to find out more details...

Learning, playing and improving together is 1 sure way to create bond that will last. My current kakis are like-minded folks who I got to know in the forum too.

1 suggestion - to inject more interest and keep the motivation up, you can think of interesting ways to keep score...other than gross score, you can award

1) 1 point for par
2) 3 points for birdie
etc, etc...

The rules can be worked out within the group...for beginners, you can even have points for scores than 100, 90, etc...then end of the 'season', tally up and have a winner...

As a measure against Buayas with questionable USGA handicap index, the System 36 same-day handicapping system will be used to determine the "handicap" for each player after each round.
http://golf.about.com/od/golfterms/g/system_36_a.htm

2) Play the round and record your strokes for each hole as per normal (capped at double par).

3) Determine your "handicap" for the round using System 36.

4) Based on the hole index, calculate the adjusted stroke for each hole.
(Example: A player with "handicap" of 19 will receive -1 stroke for holes with index 2 to 18 and -2 strokes for hole with index 1)
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_'stroke_index'_golf

5) There is a slightly different point system for man and woman. Find out how many points you get for the round based on the below table using your adjusted strokes:
Points(Man/Woman) Strokes
-1 / 0 Double bogey or worse
0 / 1 Bogey
1 / 2 Par
2 / 3 Birdie
3 / 4 Eagle
4 / 5 Albatross

6) After 6 rounds, the gross score for each player will be calculated by summing up the points achieved for each round. Top 3 players will be awarded.

<< League Rules >>

1) The last Friday and Saturday of every even months (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec) are the official days for the rounds to be held. Participants can choose to go for either 1 of the 2 official days.

2) The designated course to be played for each round will be announced at least 1 month before the round date.

3) In the event a participant is unable to make it for both of the official days, he/she is allowed to do a make-up round at the designated course, with at least 1 other league participants in the flight, within 1 month after the official date of the round.

4) The participant will receive a penalty of 5 points for playing a make-up round instead of playing on official round dates.

5) In the event a participant did not play any make-up round within a month after the official round dates, he/she will receive 0 point for the round.

6) In the unfortunate event a player receives negative total points for a round, 0 point will be awarded for that round instead of negative points.

Based on your points system, it is like giving the ladies 1 stroke every hole ...

I would suggest that if ever mloy joins your games, you might want to use the men's scoring for her

The cost for joining is $50. All the money will be pooled together and given back to the eventual winners.
All other green fees will be at your own cost.

Everyone in the league are free to suggest the courses and we actually open them up for voting before deciding on a course. Majority wins, of course.

As for the dates, it is on every last friday / saturday of even months (Eg. Feb, April, June, etc). If you are not able to make it on the official date of competition, you can find other members in the league to be your marker (within 1 month of the competition) at the selected course. That, however, will be subjected to 5pts penalty.
