Yes, very easy to get there, take the highway and it's 5mins from the exit. Would prob take between 45-60min with traffic.

I paid around S$100 including caddie and buggy for 9 hole on weekend. Didn't have time to complete 18 holes.

Just came back from BKK. Played 3 courses. Here's a short FR
Day1 - Green Valley - Very near airport. Decent fairways. Buggy on fairways!. Excellant greens. Smooth and fast!
Day2 - Lotus valley - Far from BKK City. Almost 2 hours drive even at non peak hours. Beautiful course. Quite new. Almost empty. Buggy on rough. Lousy, sandy greens though.
Day 3 - Lakewood - Near Bkk. Decent fairways and greens. Super crowded. Mini Japan in weeknds

If you wants to try a challenging course, where all par 3 are pretty long and most of the hole layout is either dog leg right or left and very long, then go to Cascata golf club.
A beautifully golf course
great condition. An hour to 90mins from Bangkok city. Go to their website and see the layout.

Lumlukka is still one of the better course that i've been to. Depending on days, you can actually get offers on sports day. That is at much as 1.5K baht per game plus caddy. It actually worth it. Please do call the club for sports day.

I have not played in cascata, I believe it is just as good but paying more than 2.5 is stretch by BKK standards. LKK is also the Amateur open preferred course. Be wary that the 1st cut rough is treacherous.

Hope it helps. Fyi, my shifu Master Slinger is a big time LKK fans, he can attest what I wrote.

Cascata is nice. Just played there a couple of months back. Green speed is pretty fast though. Nice course layout.

Thanks Bros..thats quite true. If definitely or expected to at least play or game or 2 then makes sense to bring own clubs.

My questions above must have sounded very amatuerish Embarassed paiseh

Nothing to worry about. I am sure many of us go thru this phase when we first started golfing. For me, it depends on my schedule. If I am on a golf holiday, then I would bring my whole set. But if I am on a working trip and might just find time to play one round, then I will consider renting a set or take less than a full set using my smaller compact golf bag that I can stuff in 10-11 clubs. Bring your own golf shoes though cos the rented shoes may not be a good comfortable fit.

Agreed with Gofnut on the shoes, beside hygiene reasons they might not fit well. But if you travel quite a bit for business, like I do, and sometimes get opportunity to golf, you can consider getting a golf shoes that have no studs on the bottom sole. Some FJ model can be quite stylish and look exactly like a business leather black shoes. Save you the trouble of packing an extra shoes just for golf.

was in BKK for a week.
arrived on a tues morning and took a taxi from the Suvarnabhumi Airport directly to the Royal Thai Golf and Country club -about 15-20 mins away by taxi.
The brothers here are right, most cabs boot are occupied by a CPG cylinder and there isn't much boot space.
But due to the fact that I have to travel light, I only brought a total of 6 clubs for my games.
Note that there is a 50 THB surcharge for taxi leaving the airport.

It appears that Wed is the sports day and rates are much cheaper. Think best day to play golf is wednesday.
The weather is very hot. I would recommend bringing an umbrella - else you can rent one for 100 THB.
Royal Thai - nice course, fast greens. It was relatively quiet and could finish the game fast.

Took a taxi back to BKK. Note that most taxi drivers would want you to take the toll highway. Tolls charges to BKK city costs about 90 THB.

Played on another day at the Royal Thai Army Golf course. It is much cheaper than the Royal Thai - but it is built on a compact piece of land, has alot more water features and is a public course. Because it is a public course, at almost every other hole, there is a halfway house. Besides food, golf balls are sold. I found it more challenging because of the numerous water feature.

I personally believe Thailand has the best golf courses (and golf rates) in the region.

Legacy Golf Club (formerly Natural Park) in Ramindra is a nice course and reasonably priced (published rate is THB 2800 but can find promos for 1800-2000). It's a Nicklaus designed course that is northeast of the central area, about 40 minutes without traffic and not far from Crystal Design Center (CDC), so your wife will have plenty to do while you golf.

Riverdale is also nice, one of the newer courses in BKK. The course isn't long, but some holes require very well-placed shots. It's north of central area in Pathum Thani (about 30 minutes from central with no traffic). While there's no shopping in the immediate area, there is the Bangkok Golf Club Spa (across the street). Riverdale rate is about THB 2800-3000 but they also run promotions frequently. Bangkok Golf Club is also a nice track.

If you can make it down to Hua Hin, Black Mountain is one of my favorite courses in Thailand.

In fact all the courses good. But if u want really easy to access from city centre. Try summit windmill, Meaug Kaew, Thana City and Green Valley. All these few courses nearer to airport and so highway is easily access.
