PostSubject: Best sounding hybrid   Thu Nov 12, 2009 3:14 pm

I am shopping for a nice sounding hybrid. Looking for sound similar to a coin dropping on marble floor.

I am using a titleist 905R driver and love the sound. Anyone knows or can recommend hybrid with nice sounding? I don't like those hybrid that give a "thub" sound when strucked.

Thanks.

Out of curiosity, why is the sound important? If the ball flies well, the club is forgiving and easy to use, would it matter if it sounded flat when struck?

Once i played with a guy who use a first generation of Nike driver. He is a good player and the ball flied far and straight, but the sound is like the golf ball is strucked by a Milo tin can. Would you like to have a driver like that?

It is given that most of the hybrid are forgiving and easy to use. But if you are in market looking for one, why not get one that sounds good?

I was told that titleist and ping have nice sounding. Can anyone suggest which model are those? Is it titleist 909H and G15?

That is really true. But there are still clubs that sound like milo can when strucked. I have a cobra buffler, and it just give a "click" sound when strucked on the sweet spot. The feel is shiok, but the sound is not.

The best sound I've heard when I hit my hybrid came from my flightmates who screamed obscenities at me Smile

As for the driver which was loud, I think it's the 5900. But, I thought you were talking about hybrids. Drivers are a completely different story.

That is true especially if it comes from a female flightmate. Smile

Sound good doesn't mean loud. I'm not looking for driver or hybrid that generate 130db of "noise". My car speaker can do that. I'm looking for one that with a nice pitch of "ting" sound.

Hmm... I think the Cleveland Launcher Hybrids produce that ting sound if struck well. I've also heard it off the Mizuno MX-700 hybrids.

I've got both cleveland launcher 2i and 3i. Funny thing is they sound different! 3i sounds a lot more shiok... anybody knows why?

Wah, Salty Dog! Finally getting a hybrid!

For good sound, try Callaway. They have THX systems installed in their club heads. Razz My personal favourite is the heavenwood and X model. Although I haven't hit the Diablo yet.

I'm currently using a Cobra Baffler. You can try mine if you like. It's been reshafted with a Crossfire shaft so the feel is much better.

Happy Hybrid Hunting! Cheers!

May be the Japanese hybrid can produce the "ting" sound better, still using my Kasco power tornado hybrid, super hyten titanium I think, when hit it sweet, produce very nice ting sound. The made in Japan models are better in quality, I think tourstage may have similar characteristic, my 2 cents

Bro,
Which model do you use? The one wth the Voodoo shaft or the mitsubitshi one Damana? The sound is not bad, but feel a little muted just like the 909 driver. I guess you need to hit it hard for the sound to come out crisp ??

hehehe... trying out on the blue tee for par 3 and need to be able to hit 195m to be on. My 3 iron cannot go that far. Smile

It is funny about the THX installed on the callaway club. I will give it a try... as i said, i'm looking for the "pinggggggg" sound, not the dinosaur roar. Smile

I also have a cobra baffler. It is like "tock" sound when you hit it sweet. May be i should just live with it. Smile

Bro,
You are right that the Maruman M-sole is one of the nicest sounding hybrid i have ever tried. Too bad I don't seem to be able to hit the club well.... it seems to go left and right on me all the time. Are you able to get accurate with this hybrid?
