Pls stop spamming. It is obvious your comments are solely meant to chalk up the posts needed for marketplace.

Just tell us what you are planning to sell here.

Guys,
I'm jz curious. In what way, do we really expect a newly joint members to hit a minimum required 50-post (in order to be able to participate in the subsequent WTS marketplace)?

Granted, they could be new to the forum in many ways;
1. Beginner,
2. Foreigner,
3. Newbies without known kakis in the forum (unlike most of old-timers in the forum),
4. Heard abt the friendly forum, but little knowledge on our "behaviour"
5. Etc...

If he's trying to hit 50 posts, obviously he had read the rules and may have something to sell, as this rule (especially the new 50 post) was called by the forum. I'm not sure if the rule emphasized that comment posted by newbies must not be "nonsense", but likewise I'm quite sure the rule also did not state that he can't do it within day or days.

And seriously, why do older forumer like us, who were perhaps "lucky in certain way" we don't have to struggle the 50 posts like the newbies now, think they shld be banned once they hit 50 posts? Or has GR ever holds a banter "Member Has Its Privilege" (like American Express Very Happy ) to ensure while existing members enjoy all the activities and conversation, newbies "pls work harder, smarter and importantly... slower!"?

My comment may not go down well with most "existing members" but the reason I ask is, I was talking to a few golfing friends, recommending them to join the forum. But days later, they came back after reading the rules and when I was asked about the rules of 50 posts, I chuckle and had to tell them this... "To avoid being torched, split your 50 nonsense and bullshit all over the places into 3-6 months and you're likely save, GRian do not like to see nonsense within same day or days, although technically they're the same piece of bullshit"

My friends jz stared at me stunned. And this is how "friendly" we proclaim GR is...

could not agree more. Not much value in such threads.

People here need a chill pill and let the mods do their job.

Whilst we are avoiding becoming ebay, such threads sure is turning GR to Stomp.

Pardon me for being straight forward.
I have the impression many are missing the point.
I believe the founders of this forum started this for like minded people to have a place for discussions, arrange games and make new friends.

Not for selling purposes.
While selling and buying does benefit the forum members, I believe it is a secondary purpose. Lest people abuse the benefit of this forum, the current solution of 50 minimum posts is implemented.

Ideal behind it is simple, if they think about it, they wouldn't have to worry about the 50 posts minimum, if their intent of joining this forum is in line with it's objective.

If any new members' sole intention is to sell, it should be clear to them by reading the rules that this place isn't meant for that and there are other avenues to make their sales. I will suggest, if any new members has something they wish to sell, perhaps they can post a sincere question asking where and how they can go about doing it. I am pretty sure everyone will gladly help. If they participate enough, they should have across posts like Ivan's Flea Market where they can sell, or come to find out about Creative Joe.

I guess the 50 posts minimum is chosen as a solution to let new members know that this is a place for interaction, not primarily sales.

Even if anyone wants to desperately take advantage of this forum, asking to clock 50 posts isn't too much to ask, considering membership is free here. It's like asking for a yard when given an inch.

This is my understanding of this forum's intentions.
Please feel free to correct and add on to make the understanding clearer.

DKing...right on bro. Thank you.

Selling here is a reward for members who sincerely participate in this forum. It's like PPS or Solitaire, we gotta earn it. If one thinks he should get this right immediately...well he thought wrong. This isn't the right venue for him.

So what if you only want to sell without giving some effort here? Well he can join eBay, straight away can sell. Can come to Far East, straight away deal with the store, consign at Joe. Post in FB, Join garage sale etc.

Those who join early...consider it your luck. That's life. I should have bought SAIL when it was launched but alas... Wanna complain to developer that I missed the boat? Laughing

That said, olders members also follows the same marketplace rules.

Have a good long weekend folks!

Your points are definitely valid. I agree that this forum was started for like-minded ppl to have a place for discussion, arrange games, makes new friends as you mentioned and I also believe similar objective were discussed numerous times in previous posts and they were widely acknowledged and welcome by most.

But the above statement of "Not For Selling Purpose" perhaps need to be qualified. And be it that's the primary or secondary objective of forumer, that depend solely on individual. For me, I personally enjoy every part of this forum, from discussion, sharing input, inject nonsense (with awareness of boundaries) and of course, selling!

However, the ultimate points that being highlighted again this time is "newbies clocking post too fast", is what inviting some indifferent opinion from some existing members, whom are of course already way above the 50-post qualification category.

I'd like to make my stance clear that I'm not taking sides here, but just curious and keen to know "in what fashion should newbies clock their 50-post requirement"? Is there a guideline in time frame and content of post?

Any good suggestion may serve as unwritten guideline to newbies.

Here we go! That's the answer all newbies waiting for. Struggle first no matter what, spread your bull shit all over next few weeks. There's no over night application approval. Welcome to GR!!! Once you're qualified, pass similar nonsense forward!!

Well if u want to see it that way, its unfortunate. Most Forumers all full of nonsense? Dont be so condescending.

As to your question. Its not the time frame . Its the content. Not abt too fast or fast enough.

And if we have to spell what content is good or interesting and what are nonsense.. Unfortunate.

So, can i say 50 informative, constructive and contributing post within 24 hours would be alright? Although I don't expect to see that coming from a single newbies. But i guess it would be a good unwritten guideline to them, at least.

I've been a newbie for quite some time and I don't mind the 50 posts minimum. I think it helps prevent random people who aims to join as a way of making a sale (worst if those people are trying to sell fake clubs). To me, the 50 post minimum helps maintain trust among forum-ers during the buying or selling process (there might be some hardworking black sheep out there but the rule helps keep it to a minimum). I trust this site more than ebay.

For me I joined not to sell but to read on the latest info on golf. I don't have much kakis and I'm not very good at golf so this site makes sure I don't miss much of anything. It's interesting to read on opinions though I don't participate much. I'm not much of an online chatter and even less of a forum post-er which is the reason for my low post count but i do visit this forum daily...hahaha

Yeap, underdog. 50 interesting, useful and informative posts from a single forumer in a day would be a GR record Very Happy. Whether one should do it for the sake of doing it...well leave it to people to think.

Bro FroztByte,
Min 50 post is a good way to preserve authenticity of member although not 100% fullproof. But 50-post is not the issue here, it's the reaction and perception of existing members towards the "fashion" of how they were posted is what I'm keen to understand.

This is what I meant by missing the point
If anyone just want to sell, this is not the place.

You have actually highlighted a very important point, it is the member's choice on their objective, however we are talking about this forum and it's objective. The new member can choose to have a primary objective to sell. What I am saying is, this doesn't coincide with the main objective of this forum. If the primary objective is to sell, there are other ways, other places. It's like someone setting up a interaction place and some tries to take advantage by setting up stalls instead.

As for your question on guidelines for time frame and content. I mean, seriously, do we need a guideline for everything. Whatever happened to common sense.

If you take a step back and think about it, why would anyone who comes into this forum to interact, need 50 posts. You get the picture?

How do you feel you click on all the new links at the right side to update yourself on the latest information but all you get is a single person's non relevant posts? What do you need to understand from this? It's normal for people to feel frustrated and react the way they did. Not exactly rocket science is it?

There you have it.

Nobody objects to sincere interaction and it's pretty obvious when one is trying to clock up post counts just because.

Hi guys,

I fully agree with both parties here.
But i have to take the side of Underdog slightly more.

By 50 posts, we are encouraging people to interact.
However, we are even more so encouraging people to be creative and "smart" in posting.
That is totally deviating from the initial good intent.

Frankly speaking,
Making it harder for people to achieve their goals here has created more problems and 20 rubbish posts has now become 50 rubbish posts. So the problem area has become more severe while the marginal benefit is still low.

I dun profess to knowing the answers to this, but both parties have a point. So since it is agreed at 50 by the founders and mods. So be it, but perhaps from the mixed reviews from the current forummers, they can reconsider the requirement.

Cheers
