As you are undergoing a swing change, the inconsistencies are to be expected. So I do not agree that you are in a slump. Golf is such a fickle game. Even when you feel your swing is stable, you can still get erratic scores. That's what I love about this game. The challenge is always there. So patience bro. You will get there soon enough. Don't let the negative thoughts set in.

You were there, now change swing... should be there again soon. Good luck!

if your home course is MBGC....

1) study the layout of the 18 holes n plan your approach

2) work on your short game n putting

try to limit damage to bogie at worst.....

try not to chase the score.... it will drain u mentally n make u lose focus

there will be more games to play.... be patient, it will happen

dun let your quest engulf u...... remember to have fun

practise your short game n putting....

it may be boring than hitting balls but your opponent wont b laughing when u chip in....

Good luck on your quest, hope you achieve it before the end of the year.

My handicap is more than double yours so I'm not in a position to offer advice.

But my personal belief is that the long game is to help you stay out of trouble, while the short game is for scoring. When I play with golfers who score well, sometimes their long game/approach doesn't look very fantastic. But they always manage to save strokes around the green. GIR may not be that high, but with good chipping and putting, they always score very well.

Hmmm caused by swing change.

Sounds like tigers problem.

Might be a mental thing.

Perhaps a few more sessions at the range to get used to the new swing.

Then a series of games on the par 3 courses to sharpen those approach shots.

40m to 50m issues.... I'd spend a few afternoons knocking a few at the nsrcc par 3 course. 10 balls at a certain lie, another 10 at a different spot. If someone comes by, let them pass.

Thats my plan to break 90 anyway.

Too bad work is getting in the way these days.

Hi Guys, Im back from my game.

heres the score card.

]

Overall i felt that I hit my long irons and driver quite well with 10/14 fairways hit.. I struggled with shorts < 100m, as you can see from the holes that i missed regulation, i missed them from those distances. total of 36 putts, which could be better.

I really need to work on my short game from 100m in, i hit quite a few wedges thin around the green like on holes 6 and 7 where i ended with a double bogey on both.

most memorable hole was on the 1st hole where i sliced my driver to the right, shanked my 2nd shot even more to the right, and chipped twice to get it on, and 3 putting. i didnt really get affected by it so i still managed to do okay to finish with an 86. thats 7 shots off my target, so if i can take 4 shots off my putts and have a better short game within 100m to shave off another 4 strokes, i would be able to finish within 80.

2nd one was on the 7th where i thinned my wedge shot right into a bunker. interesting how the bunkers seem to attract your ball in at times.

Overall drive was around 260m, with the longest at 290 on the index 2 par 4 hole 14.
long irons were straight, and medium irons were marginally okay.
pretty pleased with my play on the par 3s, i only missed 1 green on the 2nd hole.
However not too pleased with my approaches, those that missed missed, and those that didnt miss were not anywhere near the pin , ie on another side of the green, leaving me with maybe only 1 birdie opp today. approaches could be sharper and will work on it.
I seem to have trouble playing my 52 degrees @ 90-100m , and my 56 degrees at 10-20m in the most.
will be working on these (shots inside of 100m) when i hit the range next week, and we see how it goes from there.

Next game will be on saturday afternoon, will keep this thread updated.

Your game sounds like mine where we can have some stretches of par golf but suddenly spoilt by one blown hole. Still trying to figure out how to recover from / reduce blown holes.

Short game really makes the difference.

I think that playing with better players allows you to see how they achieve their 70s score and their course management, ie. not always hitting driver, bunkers to avoid, etc. There is also the fear of losing too much money.

Damn If I posted that score I'd be drunk for days.

But from from what I gather, maybe it's a judgement of distance that's the problem? Rangefinder will solve that.

Can I hazard a guess? You're smashing the wedges? With the ability to crank out 290m drives, you clearly have a king Kong swing speed. Which may cause you to hammer the wedges, leading to rhythm and contact issues.

When the short game is more about finesse and feel.

My 2 cents.

Btw I'm almost willing to bet you're gonna break 80 by September.

(with a 290m drive, I'll be tempted to just putt the remaining distances......)

Good luck!!! Great that golf season is pretty much year-round over in Singapore for you guys. Being in Vancouver, our golf season only lasts a couple of months. Roughly April/May - October... but by the end of the season, we're flirting with bad weather! Sad

Hoping to break 80 this year myself, keep at it!

to hit 8/14 fairways is ok....

but your GIR needs more work...esp u mentioned u have approaches from 100m in n u bladed those

your irons play need more work.... which i think u already know

may i know what were in your mind when u have those 100m approaches? does your expectation to put in near confronts u?

if u hit those long irons straight n mid irons ok but those full wedges terrible..... could be a mental thing?

i applaud your effort.... clearly u are working towards that milestone of yours

hope u break 80 by year end....

Yea the pressure to put it near gets to me. Also probably being afraid of hitting fat shots may cause me to hit it thin and blade it. I guess it all comes down to a lack of practice. After thinking back I grip a little too tight on my wedges maybe due to lack of confidence, whereas the other clubs u would be able to pull it out if my grip at any point in my swing..

I'm considering getting a new putter as well, the current one that I have is too heavy and I can't seem to control it on the way down

Thanks for the reply bro.
I guess I can gauge distance quite okay since mgbc buggy has a gps system :p
I just don't seem to know what to do inside 100m,guess a lot of work is left to be done.
As for swing speed, I don't have a very fast and furious swing. I its all about generating lag and releasing through the ball to generate club head speed. If we swing from the top of out swings to get a mighty swing, most of the speed is lost by the time the club head reaches the ball, compared to generating lag and compressing the ball through impact

u have any pre-shot routine???

well..... the thoughts of putting it near will surely comes into frame

but i tell myself i aint no pro...... if i can put it on the green within 15 feet for a managable 2 putts, i'll be happy

anything better is a bonus....

i also tell myself.....not many ppl can beat a par

i dun think too much... whether its 150m 120m or 90m, i just swing away

i never think abt birdies, it happens.... it happens

i just want to claim my par.... or salvage my bogey
