Hi,

I'm new to the game and am looking for a coach who can teach basics of the game to prepare me for an important company golf event in Sep. Any recommendations? Thinking of starting a private class of 2-3pax. How much would it usually cost?

Before the recommendations flow in for instructors, perhaps you should consider a 1-on-1 for a more personalized lesson. My experience is that for 2 to 3 pax, even though you pay lower, I didn't feel as though I benefitted as much from a 1-on-1.

The other thing is about expectations. Since it's almost July now, you are unlikely to improve by leaps and bounds unless you are naturally gifted and have time to practise a lot.

Good luck with hunting down a good instructor and all the best in your Sep golf event!

Hi my gf and i are looking for a coach. I am a beginner with some understanding of the game but my gf is totally new. I'm a righty and my gf is a lefty. I heard Justin Han is good and he can play both on the left and right. I've been reading some of the posts here and found out he left Muru Golf Academy and went to Laguna. And I think the price Laguna charges seems to be out of my reach. Can someone give me his contact number or maybe there is another top coach one can recommend? My budget for 2 ppl is 40-60 per hour per person. Hope the bros here can help out. Thanks!

Golf is not a sport which can be mastered within a short period of time ~ not to mention within 2 months....... Coach wise, I reckon J Han should fit the bill.

Good luck on your journey in picking up this game......

Phil Mickelson is a right handed player who plays golf as a lefty because he mirrored his dad's swing. I think it's not necessary to have a coach who can play left handed golf in order to learn that way.

Another thing about coach is that his style must suit you. And you can only know from trial and error. Good luck.

Just because your left handed, it does not necessarily mean you must play lefty clubs.

I have a golf kaki who is left handed but he plays right handed clubs cos he said there are a lot of limitations buying lefty clubs.

Anyway,he currently plays of a 6 hcp, posses a beautiful effortless swing but is exceptionally long with off the tees......

Hope this helps.

:-)

Adamsum i think i will have to decline your offer. sorry. I also believe 1 on 1 coaching is better, but coz my gf wants to pick the game up so she can accompany me and play togeth; and I think I also need a coach for pointers, that is y im going for 2 persons. and in general the 2 person rate suits our budget for a top coach too. hope u understand.

Red8- I can't reply to your PM because I haven't hit enough posts too...

Ren- don't worry actually was wondering how much the rate is going. I also think 1-on-1 is good but I would think that it will be way pass the budget.hehe..

Just a side note, average one-on-one "top coach" I believe charges start from minimum $80 -150 per hr. If your budget permit, can go by this route if not with a group of 3-4 pax does make a difference if you have a budget constrain.

You want a good coach to help you and your girl with your games. Call Gary Doolan (ex PGA touring pro) at Champions golf on Eng Neo Avenue. Very Very good teacher and a nice guy too. Tell him the big guy sent you and he will give you a good rate as well.

Best of luck
